and for the fact that a game is only able to be make on PS3 (and not Xbox360 ofc) like FFXIII or MGS4, I take these comments with " " since until the last annuncement u never know on which system the game will be released

and even if Xbox360 is "effectively" inferior in term of power than PS3, u can just release a "lighter" version of ur game and it becomes multiplateform game ...

It sounds, that FFXIII is not possible on x360. Or find me FFXIII developer comment, that stated, that they could easy make FFXIII on x360. LOL.

libellule, Kojima stated, that PS3 is a theatre and x360 is dvd, and in best way, x360 would get a crappy port. Cell is far beyond of x360 cpu, that mean physics, AI and some effects are far beyond of x360 capabilities.

 

CrazzyMan, even Kojima has been spotted spouting double-speak regarding the relative power of all three consoles. Selective quoting will get you nowhere in this forum since people here are quite well informed.

HK: Maybe some nuance or a small details here and there might be different, but I feel that hardware is no longer a matter. I'm just talking about PS3, 360 and PC. Revolution is totally different, but there are really no differences among the other three.

If you're going to go with that argument, then I can say that Kojima's words are not trustworthy and can call bullshit on his other statement. After all, who would trust someone who speaks about the PS3's capabilities before they have access to them?

You can't really win by quoting Kojima until he has worked with the 360... Let's wait until MGS4 is out, and then see how good it is.

Kojima said pretty recently that it's PS3 only (2 months ago maybe).

Please keep in mind that I'm talking long term, here, not short. A lot of people in this thread have responded with "But PS3 has Lair and Uncharted coming and..." which is beside the point. I'm not talking this year. Heck, I'm not even necessarily talking this generation; I'm talking about the parallel strategies of these two companies over the next 5, 10 or 15 years, and how this strategy favors Microsoft long term, not Sony.

Both companies are using their video game consoles as trojans to push their company's other technologies, in and out of the actual video game arena. Both push tons of money at their consoles, and are willing to take a loss now for long term gains (or even long, long term gains). The problem is that Microsoft simply has a lot more money to push with, and the erosion of 3rd party exclusivity on the PS3 -- in comparison to its predeccesor -- is evidence of it.

They're playing the same game, but Microsoft is simply better prepared to play. Mind you, this doesn't mean Sony can't win. That's not what I'm saying. Instead, I simply believe that in order to win long term, Sony can't win this way. A new strategy is required.

He saw Gears of war, and he worked with ps3 ENOUGH to STATE THAT.

Bodhesatva, Sony has SAME strategy, with ps3, ad it has with psOne and ps2. The only difference, PS3 is most expensive console in this generation, blu-ray is not a standart yet.

Is that a problem? Hmm.. let`s think in long perspective, price will drop, blu-ray with ps3 will be more popular. So that`s wrong? Price won`t drop, blu-ray won`t be a standart? =))
