hit the win button on the wii long enough and you gain intelligence points, then once you level up, a simple minded casual wii owner gains the brain power to control the oh so complicated 360/ps3 controller. The final level allows them to move up to the keyboard and mouse for gaming. XD

wow it all makes sense now, i will try that thanks for the tip

PC gaming is the ultimate form of entertainment though

No it isn´t PC gaming will never be as good as console gaming and i am not talking about graphics.

The only genre that make PC better are strategy games and that can change with the wii mote.

you didn't just say that....

It's true that PC gaming doesn't get as many games as consoles, but when some do come out, they are (mostly)easy to play and fun. Thanks to the K&M or M&K.

And as for the wii & strategy games..... Has an RTS even come out for the wii yet? lol.
The wiimote is cool, but will never be as comfortable to use as the mouse and keyboard.

Yes I did, I´ve been a computer/pc gamer longer then a console gamer and I think the consoles beat the pc in gaming experience. Take the same game on both pc and console and the experience is always better on consoles if the game is doen properly on both platforms. PC has some better games that suits the PC better but overall console wins.

What about the keyboard and the mouse? There's so many genres where nuffin beats K&M controls - like RTS, FPS, most action adventure games and most RPGs are better with K&M than a console controller (with or without motion sensing).

Some games are better on PC when it comes to experience but most are not and I wrote that in my post too.

Most RTS & FPS games has so far been better but with Wii mote or the other motes coming this could change, not saying it will but it could if done properly and the same goes for action adventure games. I always prefered the console RPG´s.

K & M games that need so many different buttons that couldn´t be done in a proper maner with a pad or a mote are the only games that PC is and will always be superior then consoles.

"Yeah, absolutely. I think that there's a difference in the type of customer that is buying the Wii. When you think about it, there's a difference between trying to be the number one console with nine year old gamers, and being the console that offers the most experiences from 13 to 33.

I think for us, we don't really see the Wii as a direct competitor, we actually very much complement the Wii experience. It's obviously clear that we're going head-to-head with the PS3 in this generation. I think what Xbox will be able to do as well as the Wii is grow the market.

In this generation we're seeing record revenues for the U.S. and globally for the business, and we're seeing more people buying and playing games than ever before, and the Wii is definitely part of that. And as they grow that pie, that benefits us too, because those customers are eventually going to want to graduate to an Xbox 360 experience."

WTF????? TO BE HONEST.... this all looks like BS to me.

Bull crap! they wouldn't be saying this if they were ahead of the Wii in sales.

Yes, and slowly they are beginning to over take you month by month in total sales.

HA! This is clearly BS, MS had a 9.5lead when the Wii and PS3 came out, and now look at the numbers!

In case you guys at MS haven't realized by now, there are some PS3 and Wii gamers that just plain don't like you!!!!!

@Slimebeast. I can't quote you (damn Wii browser)

Rol has already told you you used the wrong years (and combined 2 handhelds versus 1)
I did a rough addition of 2002 (all year) and compared to 2007 (all year)

2002 PS2+GC+XB = 15.45 million.

2007 Wii+PS3+X360 = 15.15 million.

Again fewer consoles sold than last time (check the charts yourself for exact figures, I can't post them)

Handheld wise I kept with 2002 for GBA but as DS/PSP released earlier (late04/early05) I used 2006.

2002 GBA = 7.98 million
2006 PSP+DS = 9.05 million.

I don't see much significant increase.

(can you see gif smilies with that browser?)

Ok, I stand corrected.

But damn, I still can't get rid of the feeling that console unit sales have increased hugely (both in America and elsewhere).

Perhaps this is how it feels to be CrazzyMan?

Yes I can see gifs, I used to be able to quote but since ioi fixed the problem with pages over 30 posts not loading, it has also started loading the Rich Text console which doesn't work for the Wii Browser, so I can no longer quote or PM.

I have switched to my laptop though since it was annoying me.

You have been mislead by these graphs. That one shows hardware from launch for the PS2etc, (for 80 weeks) add up the 3 and you get 19.9 million sales.
Do the same for the current consoles and you get 23 million, which is not a significant increase but it isn't a decrease like the other ways.

There is no problem in using that method as long as you know the dates each console launched... and it does show that the total number of consoles sold this generation is likely to be higher than before (as it should).
The methods I used were trying to compare singular years like the revenue graphs in JaggedSacs link.

In fact I think using VGC numbers for consoles sold, and using the graphs in that link I might be able to work out the actual average price of the consoles in each year. (something I tried to do vaguely in a post above). I will have a look and see if I can.

lol, he can call it a fad, but saying that Wii owners will graduate to 360 is ignorant. If nothing else, with current trends, it would appear much more likely they would graduate to the PS3.

I love my 360. I just hate the aholes and Microsoft and I always will. Ignorant, self-important, propogandists.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

I'm a wii only owner and i am very happy with my console of choice. i don't need the RROD machine, the wii is enough for me.

Now I understand some things... Maybe did they think iPod users could be willing to "graduate" to Zune?

RPG, FPS, Strategy, Adventure, Puzzle, Board/Parlor,  Simulations, are all easily better on PC than Consoles. And PC always gets the best versions of muliplatform games, and I didn't even mention the fact that PC can easily play them with a gamepad.

The only genres Consoles have advantage is Fghting games and Driving games.

And mark my words: Console gaming is dieing, one way or the other.

Sure, I guess that's why a small company like EA decided to not put most of their games on the PC anymore? Or why some game developer was complaining that PC gaming was dead? Yep, sounds like console gaming is in deep trouble here.

I do not agree on Adventure and RPG, for the mere fact that the consoles get the best games in those genres.

It's clear you are ignorant about PC Games, because PC dominates both Adventure and RPG genres. And here is EA's 2008 Exclusive games for PC:

Battlefield Heroes
Battleforge
Dragon Age - Bioware PC exclusive and Spiritual successor of Baldur's Gate. Bigger than Mass Effect.
FIFA Manager 09
SimCity Societies: Destinations
Spore - Biggest Game of the Year, created by the Genius Will Wright.
Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning - HUGE Budget MMORPG, being developed by the experienced Mythic (creators of DaoC). Looking to challenge World of Warcraft.

There is not 1 EA game on consoles that can rival any of Dragon Age, Spore or Warhammer Online, in terms of awesomeness, except Burnout Paradise (which is being released soon on PC with several extra modes and fully optimized).

Electronic Arts has recently been the publisher who supported PC the most, because they know that's where the biggest money is being made.

About the Adventure genre.... PC is THE platform for Adventure games, a genre that is unexistent in consoles except DS/Wii. And DS and Wii don't even have a 1/5 of what PC has in Adventure games.

About the RPG genre.... Are you high? PC has more RPGs than PS3/Wii/360 combined, in 2008.

(some) PC RPG exclusives in 2008:

Afterfall
Dragon Age
Drakensang: The Dark Eye
King’s Bounty: the Legend
Neverwinter Nights 2: Storm of Zehir
Not the Time for Dragons
Pirates of Burning Sea
Ragnarok Online 2
Reluctant Hero
Space Siege
Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning

The Witcher: Enhanced Edition
World of Warcraft: Wrath of Lich King

Damn... I worked it out but forgot that the NPD numbers might be USA only.

Anyway nevermind, I could only do it for 2006 vs 2007 anyway because they only had the percentage pie charts for those on the link.... that and the average price becomes skewed by the PS2 selling well in both those years, and the GBA in 2006.

i dont think it iwll happen, some will buy a 360 but not all
