Forums - Gaming - bioware vs blizzard

Blizzard-- they actually have the guts to delay a game until it's good and ready.

If you don't believe me just look at Mass Effect.

No offense to bioware, but blizzard is so much better.

 but doesnt bioware make baldurs gate?

Yes, but Baldur's Gate 2 was the only excellent game they ever made (but I did not play BG1, so I can't judge that game). Neverwinter Nights was only "good" (mostly because of the online). Kotor was also good but nowhere near great. Jade Empire was an abortion. And Mass Effect was Bioware's best effort since BG2, but it is still only a good game.

Blizzard, on the other hand, has Starcraft, the Warcraft series, World of Warcraft and Diablo series. Every single game they made were masterpieces. That's why Blizzard is the number 1 developer of: RTS, Action/RPG and MMORPG (that's 3 freaking genres/subgenres).

EDIT: Bioware might regain some of their reputation with Dragon Age and Mass Effect 2. If Dragon Age truly succeeds as the spiritual successor of Baldur's Gate, and Mass Effect is atleast twice the size and takes twice as long to finish, then it would be great for Bioware.

yes,but bioware has more series as opossed to blizzard,so dont you think alot of great series beat a few awesome series?

Bioware has more series, but they also have less games. they have 6 games made, while Blizzard has 7 games. Also Blizzard made more expansions than Bioware, just pointing that out.

Blizzard does Satan's work... but i fukN LoVe WoW !!!

For me, it'd be Blizzard. By far.

@brute

As far as I know, both only have announced 2 games each: Dragon Age and Mass Effect 2 for Bioware. Blizzard has 2 games + 1 expansion announced (Starcraft 2, Diablo 3 and World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King ).

I'm pretty sure both are also developing MMORPGs, but none have talked about it yet.

I would rather both of them took their time to polish and make their games even better (well, Blizzard already does that) so we could get another masterpieces. The fact that Dragon Age is taking so long in development is a good sign.

Blizzard
