Forums - Nintendo - What's all the fuss about smash bros brawl?????

I always have hated every Smash game when I first started playing them, Its a type of game that grows on you, The more you learn the more you love. First time I went throught the SSE I thought hmm that was ok, nothing great but was fun, Replayed it on intense mode refusing to use Stickers or the get up option and wow that was fun even thought I was stuck on the Marth/Meta Knight stage for around 5 hours.

I played Brawl yesterday and after about two hours it felt boring. So it's just like Melee, but with more characters, stages, music and other stuff. Brawl lived up to my expectations.

Why do hate it rol the only people that hate are the one's that are not good in the game?

You really haven't played the game if you haven't played it online. Online is its biggest attribute, even though it is very flawed, but it is very addictive. You should try adding vhcharts members and playing against them, that is were the fun of this game is.

It's always the way for over-hyped games. No game is as good as reviewers made out Brawl/GTA4/Halo 3/MGS4 to be, and if you allow yourself to get caught up in it then the reality can only be disappointing.

MGS4 is better than what the reviewers gave it.

Brawl is a better Meele. A bit slower. A bit better looking. A bit new characters. A bit new setttings. A bit of innovation (stage editor, on-line play).

The jump from SSB to SSBM is greater than the jump from Meele to Brawl.

If the on-line were as smooth as Kart tends to be, it would be near perfect.

The comments about the single-player experience are similar to what I have heard some people say about Halo 3. They are not unexpected.

Finally, the SSE is built like a Kirby platformer (in my opinion), so that might also have an impact on how people feel about it.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

Or a Sony fanboy...

Did that hurt Rol?

i agree i also have been waiting for brawl in the uk, and it does not live up to expectations its just kinda average, i think melee was better the controls just feel alot better in compariosn to brawl and i know people say just use gamecube controller tried that it still feels worse than melee, i also dont like the amount of weapons they have nicked from mario kart like the star and lighting they dont fit in brawl

my final comments sad to say i find this game average

i dont see what the fuss about brawl is either, but a lot of people like it.

i may give it a go sometime, but from what ive played of it, it just doesnt cut it for me.

i like tekken, soul caliber type of games better

...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...

PSN: Skeeuk - XBL: SkeeUK - PC: Skeeuk

really miss the VGCHARTZ of 2008 - 2013...

I also as a little disappointed in it. Subspace was a fairly poor platformer, and none of the new enemies found therein were interesting at all--for whatever reason, Koopas are just much more interesting than Primids.

I thought the stages were a step down from Melee--where some of the Melee stages had an amazing insanity to them, most of the scrolling stages in Brawl were kind of a pain in the ass (Rainbow Cruise and Pokefloats were so much better than Rumble Falls or Mushroomy Kingdom).

And online for Brawl is awful. Doing random online matches always felt suspiciously like I was playing computer opponents, only it would take 2 minutes to find said computer opponents. I mean, I'll fight as Link, and at least two of my opponents are Link as well (one of them might be Toon Link). Unless a good 70% of all people fight as Link ,something fishy's going on there.

It's a still a blast, and there might be no better local multiplayer experience, but I thought it could be a lot better. Luckily they did a much better job with Kart online play than they did with Brawl.

My consoles and the fates they suffered:

Atari 7800 (Sold), Intellivision (Thrown out), Gameboy (Lost), Super Nintendo (Stolen), Super Nintendo (2nd copy) (Thrown out by mother), Nintendo 64 (Still own), Super Nintendo (3rd copy) (Still own), Wii (Sold)

A more detailed history appears on my profile.

If you really got into Smash Bro.s Melee you would find that the returning characters have been GREATLY modified.

Most of their moves remain the same but the amount of damage, knockback, speed, jump height, etc. are enough to make the best character from Melee the worst.

The real fun in Brawl, which is where the hype comes from, is 4 player local multiplayer, if you have yet to try that don't complain.

This is what you got in Brawl you did not get in Melee.

8 hour Single player + all returning modes.

71 ( i think) new event matches, 20 co op matches.

Co op everything

several new characters (you can't expect too many more than Melee since Melee took up pretty much every Nintendo franchise there is, nt much you can add but they managed to add quite a few.)

LOTS of new stages, plus all the great Melee stages return.

1000+ stickers

500+ trophies (compares to about 270 in Melee).

Final Smash

Several new items

stage builder

HUGE soundtrack

Online multiplayer

I honestly don't see how anyone can think this isn't a significant amount of new features and content.
