Any predictions when there will be a newly redesigned PS3? Sony has done it before in the past with their past consoles (the PSone and The PStwo)

Took some time finding the slim psone lol, but i believe the PS3 will also see a redesign, prolly look something like this, although this is not official and not a confirmed picture by sony.

If a redesign is to come, it'll probably be released around the new xbox, but what does everyone think?

next chip revision is sheduled for fall, the only question is if that allready reduces heat enough that they can move to a smaller case.
they definitely want to do it as fast as possible cause a smaller version of the console makes it usually cheaper to produce and additionally increases sales. But before they can get heatoutput down low enough they cannot move to a smaller case.

They took almost 5 years with the PS2... If that's any indication, it's not going to be anytime soon.

The second Cell shrink and the GPU shrink should both go in this fall. I would hope they can reduce the size of the console at that time as well.

i think they will do the re-design faster time then ps2, my prediction is late 2009 to early 2010

Hopefully they do not make it too small. I find small systems aesthetically abhorrent.

Won't happend anytime soon, as NJ5 said, i took them 5 years to redesign the ps2, but i think they will make it faster for the PS3 as it need it.

hopefully soon, its heavy at 11 pounds currently.

But does anyone know why they didn't release a silver PS3? that would be amazing, i'd have bought it. Like the one you see in all the pics.
