At least through 2009. Once the PS3 gets below $300, then we'll see a lot more million sellers on the PS3. Still, by the time that happens the XBox 360 will have over 80 million sellers.

The TC had the wrong numbers.  PS3 still has a long ways to go to catch the XBox 360. I don't see it happening this generation.

I don't know about that. Yes the Wii get a LOT of 3rd party games, but people keep forgetting that most of these games sell like crap. Some of them barely even make over 200K, even though there are 40+ million Wii's in people's homes. We all know that Nintendo made game will sell 1 million easily. Even that awful Wii Music will eventually sell over a million copies. Still, more 3rd Party games on the XBox 360 will millions, then the Wii. Games like Prince of Persia, Mirror's Edge, Fallout 3, even Tales of Vesperia and The Last Remnant will probably sell over 1 million overall in their lifetime. The Wii could catch up, but Nintendo would need to release a lot more 1st party games I think.

Exactly what basis are you reasoning that the PS3 will leave the 360 "in the dust"?  Is the PS3 all of a sudden going to be less expensive?  Will there be a sudden demand for Blu-Ray?  Well, the RROD return, but this time function as a lazer of doom that will blow up houses and kill millions?

Given many unheralded games of the Wii have long legs and will sneak past 1 mill. one by one (just like We Ski!), I'd say the Wii.

Honestly, I don't think Joseph has a clue as to how the game industry works when it comes to hardware sales. The PS3 hardware sales was like 10-15% less this year then last year, while the XBox 360 sales were 20-25% higher. Sony has no plans to drop the price of the PS3 until midsummer or fall of next year. So for the 1st half of 2009, the XBox 360 will most likely continue to outsell the PS3 worldwide. If M$ decided to drop the price again before the holiday of 2009, the PS3 will have no chance of catching the XBox 360 in 2009. Neither system will catch the Wii this generation.

I think to compare the 360 to the Wii you have to take the Wii a year back... how many million sellers did the 360 have at the beginning of 08?? I remember like 38 or 40... so they are tied.

As the Wii userbase grows I see it first pulling closer then pulling away. But it will not be like last gen by any means. The 360 is a sw selling machine... Same could not be said for the XB, and not too much for the GC (even though it did pretty good for its userbase)

i will go with the wii just because of the install base. any kind of game can sell on the wii. just unfortunate third parties havent try to make much quality games for wii owners. cant wait till 2009 for the wii lineup.

The Wii inevitably. First the installed based is getting so huge and games traditionally sell for so much longer, we are  starting to see the time when it will almost difficult to write a game  that won't stumble across the line in a year or so. Did you expect Cooking MaMa to make it?
