Resistance is much more like the original Call of Duty games. Just convert the monsters to Nazis. R2 looks like it might offer more but the original was just a decent shooter but nothing special.

I give this thread 9.4.

Thank god for the disable signatures option.

@Squilliam
Ahhh so now the argument has changed from "PS3 having no games worth playing at all" to vague hair splitting differences in the "variation" of line ups and your ownl subjective opinion (about games yet to be released) to arrive at the conclusion that the Xbox360 lineup is "STILL better"
And you say this is not trolling?

Halo 3 may not have been anything special in single player. (even thought I liked it a lot but I admit it was the same old)
But the multiplayer was amazing, still the best FPS multiplayer on the home consoles in my opinion...and the inclusion the Forge feature...kickass.

I have to disagree on your halo comments I admit it had its shortcomings but the single player was and still is imo the best gameplay yet on the 360. the AI was brilliant.

I actually strongly disagree with the main poster :P I'm not going to say some dickhead stuff though.

I think for sheer player count, the PS3 takes the cake in terms of quality. Resistance fall of man had 40 man matches from the get-go :D Friggin awesome experience ^^

Saying Halo 3 had more defining qualities than Resistance fall of man is almost laughable :P Halo 3 was pretty much as cut and paste as shooters come, sure it had polish, but nothing that makes it terribly unique to the shooter world, at least resistance had weapons with secondary fires xD I'll go out on a limb and say the Bullseye (one weapon from Resistance), had more uniqueness to it than the entire franchise of Halo :P But that's just my opinion, so take with that what you will.

I think the 360 has the whole live thing going for it, but the PS3 also has free access to multi-player games generally hosted on dedicated servers :P So the multi-plat issues come into play.

And for all the exclusive games you mentioned on the 360, I'm pretty sure you can find equal value of such on the PS3.

From 0 to KICKASS in .stupid seconds.

I don't really like online shooters, but for my money the PC/360 does hold a slight edge due to Halo 3, GRAW, Bioshock, Prey, and F.E.A.R., as well as the supposed better quality of The Orange Box.

I don't consider MGS4, Rachet, or Uncharted "shooters" though, any more than I consider GTAIV a shooter.

That said, there is no telling what the future holds, and things could change rather easily. Bioshock, for instance, is getting an enhanced PS3 release.

I hate Gears of War and reasonably enjoy Resistance.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

I was wrong. I wasn't able to make the comparison apropriately whilst remaining fair to the lineups of both parties. I far exceeded my ability to make sound analysis of the titles I mentioned.

I hope someone who is more experienced with shooters than me, can post something that weighs the quality, uniqueness and style of each game apropriately. Whilst I still feel synergy and variety are very important points I wasn't able to do this right.

Once again, I am sorry.

If theres a PS3/360 owner whos also a good shooter fan and is relatively unbiased between the systems, could he please step forward and correct my grave error.

Really? I know it typically boils down to personal preference when there aren't any game breaking faults for a given title, but I've heard from some who really seem to hate GoW that still like Xbox shooters and for the life of me, I can't figure out why.

Different game play from Halo (for the better IMO), short 1P campaign, but same for Halo. Visuals were dark and weathered as opposed to the candy colored rainbow visuals of Halo, but that was just an art direction call (similar to Bioshock).

Not perfect, but far from flawed and widely regarded as one of the first games to truly showcase the 360 as a gaming platform.

I spent several times the amount of hours playing Resistance, but I'd say it was half because it was the only standout title on the PS3 for quite awhile and half because I enjoyed the story enough to keep replaying it to the point that the controls became second nature.

Squilliam, you shouldn't care about what leo-j says. He's constantly bashing the 360 in every thread anyway.

Back to your point. The PS3 has quality FPS games and it's a very capable system thanks to its more advanced cell processor (but weaker GPU compared to the 360 and less memory available for graphics), but the sixaxis/dual shock controller just doesn't work nicely with shooters compared to the 360 pad. Your thumbs are too close to each other. Basically, the PS3 works good for the games that were designed with Dual shock in mind.
