Forums - Sales Discussion - Is the Wii Still a Virtual sellout in US?

wow. maybe I should buy one why I am here....

I am a huge Nintendo fan, so I would not lie about seeing Wiis in stock. But I knew I was in a small city in the deep south.... So I was curious if it was a widespread thing.

End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)

Wii- 72 million   3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases

360- 37 million   Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak

PS3- 29 million  Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut

Yes.... they either don't make it to the shelves here or go quickly. If you find one buy it.

Boycotting the following:

1. Yoshi: He ate my car and spit out a toaster.

2. Igglybuff: Totally false advertisement. You can have as many as you like they don't buff nothing.

3. the Terms Hardcore/Softcore... We're talking Video Games. Not Porn.

4. The term Casual as relates to Gamers: We make them sound like outsider's that happen to play games.  If that were the case they'd own a PS3.

5. Donuts.... Beacause I drink Beer...... and the biggest fan of Donuts hates Beer.

6. Boycotts: Their so lame.

I mentioned this in Griffins thread as well. The only place I have seen a Wii in stock in constant supply is in SE Ohio albeit small supply like what you said. I have also heard that they were slightly available in Louisiana from real life friends. So I wasn't shocked to here they were available in WV and I am not so shocked about.

It is still sold out here in the Bay Area and in NJ where I have family that is looking for it. So I would say it is patchwork availability by region at most.

Seeing as even rip-off bundles are still selling out, I doubt we'll see Wii demand decreasing in the US for a long time.

You expect the Wii to continualy be supply constrained for another year ? wow..

Speaking for my area....yes. We're in one of the slowest times of the gaming year...and they can't keep them on the shelves. Once we get into September/October it will be nearly impossible....and November/December will be ugly. January/Febuary they try to play catch up and won't succeed. In March, if they do have the supply, they will hold it since they will have already met their financial expectations. That leaves April of '09 to be the first possible time that they could possibly meet demand enough that the Wii is actually sitting on tehshelf longer than 1-2 days.

And if you think that will be the time that the PS3 can catch up....guess again.

Don't underestimate the desire for many Wii owners to own a new color when they release the Black Wii. Ask how many DS owners own two...and sometimes 3 DSs.

Lol I own 3 DS's; 2 Lites (white and Zelda; which are used for trading my Pokemon) and one original (now belongs to my dad).

When I went to the GameStop on Friday during my lunch break at 1 PM to download the GameStop Event Deoxys, they had like 18 MGS4 PS3 bundles left (out of 25), but just got in 10 Wii in that morning and had 2 left when I went there.

I remember in the summer of 2007, Wii's also started becoming more common on store shelves. Once the holidays started approaching however they all disappeared. Really, in order to maintain fully stocked for the holidays, they are going to need enormous inventory to keep up.

I remember seeing piles of PS3s and 360s of over 150 at Best Buy. If we see piles in the 100s in the stores this winter, we'll know they are caught up.

Sold out in Boston, at least.

Although supply has increased from 10-minute sellouts to 1-hour sellouts (!)

(Based on me buying WiiFit 2 weeks ago by camping outside a Best Buy)

There is no such thing as a console war. This is the first step to game design.

After almost two years since the Wii release, people still camp outside the stores to get a Wii.

I've seen a few Wiis on shelves in the last week. It's rare but it happens.

How many cups of darkness have I drank over the years? Even I don't know...

Wii is sold at where I live... as is Mario Kart Wii and Wii Fit.
