Anyone want to take a guess on the next PS3 title to make the NPD top 10?

June I think is going to be dominated by Pokemon D/P (DS), Forza 2 (360), Mario Party 8 (Wii), Big Brain Academy (Wii), Harry Potter (PS2 and or Wii), Pokemon Battle Revolution (Wii), Spiderman 3 (PS2), GH II (360), and maybe something like Sim City (DS), or another movie game will make the top 10.

June NPD is 5 weeks - which means it runs through July 7, 2007.

Just looking at the software, in the USA I would expect PS3 to be 90,000-100,000 (actually a decline with the extra week factored in to the mix), Wii to be 400-450k, and 360 to be 130k-170k.  DS will probably do another 450k (decline on a weekly basis), and PSP will likely do 200k (decline on a weekly basis).  PS2 is probably going to dip further to around 175k (35k/week), and GC will probably do like 9,000 or so.

July I think will see PS3 games in the top 10 again, and I think the hardware will pick up to over 100k that month, June doesn't look good though...With E3 in July and Sony using PS2 to buttress PS3 costs, I wouldn't be surprised at a PS2 price drop, since this was the first time in three years PS2 sold under 200,000 in the USA.

Mmm ,interesting data .The main new is the X360 falls again for the 5 consecutive month .

December 1 million
January 280 K (this is normal after christmas )
February 220K
March 199K
April 175K
May 154K.

The Wii continues to sell very strong ,and the PS3 keeps its sales although no games have been released in May (aside from the Spiderman 3 and Pirates movie cash-ins ) but this shouldnt be a good new as those sales are just plain poor .The PSP sells very strong .I expected this after the price drop ,that price drop in Europe is working miracles for the handheld (many people are asking me for the handheld now appealed by the price ) and it was normal that it would make some impact in the US .DS numbers continues to be obscenely strong as well ,this time fuelled by Pokemon but it doesnt matter if Pokemon wasnt out it would still sell very strong that machine is like that it just cant stop selling .

Only thing is that some of the data should be changed ,as now the difference between vgchartz and NPD for X360 numbers is nearly 1 millon and thats too much as Canada cant justify that big difference .

One more thing .Now I am sure the PSP software numbers cant be correct .THe console is selling quite well and its userbase is nearly 30% higher than last year while the actual game sales after this site show a drop in sales that would be as great as 50% .Last year most NPD data showed the PSP software selling 1 million per month consistently (the lowest number was 650K ) ,theres no way that now with a bigger userbase a lot of good games in catalogue and many games with reduced prices it is selling half that .

In the software front bad news ......crap games are selling like mad and good games dont make the due impression .

Nintendo's response to the NPD numbers are coming from Peach this month!

Oh, my! All this attention is enough to make a girl blush!

As a princess I’m used to being adored, but this is just too much! I know I’m probably sounding like a broken record, but once again my friends at the NPD Group are telling me that Wii and Nintendo DS finished May as the most popular systems in the United States.

Thanks to everyone for your wonderful support! Nintendo couldn’t have made it back to the top without you. You’re all Mario-caliber heroes in my book.

Now I’m not one to brag, but some of the top games of this month happen to feature someone very pretty and popular – me! I’m talking about the super-fun Mario Party 8 and Super Paper Mario for Wii. Sure, Mario gets top billing, but from where I sit (on my throne), I’d say he’s earned it. Besides, my own game on Nintendo DS, Super Princess Peach, is still selling strong, showing that a girl can do anything she puts her mind to.

I think all my Super Princess Peach fans would have just as much fun working to earn their Big Brain Academy: Wii Degree. I’m not in that one, but don’t worry, I’m not going anywhere. Be sure to watch for me in my super-stylish soccer gear in Mario Strikers Charged, which arrives on Wii on July 30. I can’t wait!

Kisses!

Peach

Wow... no comment.

I think Nintendo is rubbing it in to Sony and MS in an backhanded manner

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)

Don't forget Wii Play. That game isn't going anywhere.

Wow. That's a pretty incredible decline. Here I thought there was supposed to be one awesome game every month helping to maintain high sales. With 3 months below 200K in the spring, I hate to see what the "summer drought" looks like.

Edit: And that press release is retarded.

"[Our former customers] are unable to find software which they WANT to play."
"The way to solve this problem lies in how to communicate what kind of games [they CAN play]."

All this talk of "Wii domination" is fairly silly. By everyone's estimations, the 360 is still ahead by 2 million (or more) consoles. Halo 3, GTA and all of the AAA titles have yet to hit the stores. Even if demand stayed consistent, it would still take the Wii 2 years to catch up. Top 10 sales software charts are a little misleading. Mario Party 8 sold well because Wii owners don't have a lot of choices atm. I am willing to bet the total number of 360 software in the top 20 or so is much higher then the total amount of Wii software. 360 owners have to make a choice when they go to purchase a game. Wii owners don't currently have that luxury.

NPD and VGC both are estimates. Noone knows who really outsold who, extrapolation or no. If the mass media screws up election results even with all the data they gather, what chance is there that these guys are accurate.

Whatever agency you use, NPD, VgCharts for Americas, M-Create, Famitsu for Japan, or Chart-Track for Europe, Wii is outselling 360 everywhere - no exception as far as I know - for all of 2007.

Worldwide, according to VgCharts, in 2007 Wii is outselling 360 at a rate of 125,000/week.  NPD data was within 5% for VgCharts Wii data, while VGcharts overestimated 360 by over 30%...

That means Wii is probably at 8.13 instead of 8.17 through Jun 10, while 360 is probably at 9.94 instead of 10.00 through June 10.

9.94-8.13= Wii's position behind 360 worldwide = 1.81 million

1.81 million = 125,000x, where x = weeks

Wii catches 360 in 14.48 weeks from June 10 at that rate.  Even with GTA, Halo 3, etc, 360 will need to sell 500k units more per month than Wii just to avoid being outsold by Wii at current rates.

I don't know where you get two years from.  360 had a 12 month lead over Wii, which amounted to, at most, 7 million units, now that lead is down to under 2 million units.

Remember too that NPD data is only through June 2.  Two weeks have gone by in real time, so Wii is more like 1.6 million behind 360 as of this very moment.

Vbdevpro ,the Wii actually puts a monthly difference of at least 190 000 consoles in Japan ,180 000 in North America and nearly 160 000 in Europe .So ,each month it reduces the X360 lead by 530 000 units .That 2 million lead of the X360 can endure some 4 months .And the decline of X360 hardware in all 2007 doesnt allow to be overly optimistic .

I found the rest of the top 25 software...

11 WII SUPER PAPER MARIO Nintendo
12 360 CRACKDOWN Microsoft
13 PS3 MLB '07: THE SHOW Sony
14 WII LEGEND OF ZELDA: TWILIGHT PRINCESS Nintendo
15 WII SPIDER-MAN 3 Activision
16 360 SHADOWRUN Microsoft
17 PS3 SPIDER-MAN 3 Activision
18 PS2 MLB '07: THE SHOW Sony
19 360 MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL 2K7 Take 2 Interactive

Suprising bevy of 360 games in there - Very suprising that Gears is beating Rainbow Six Vegas on 360.

Other than that, the numbers nearly mimic the VGChartz numbers.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.
