I think Resistance 2 is going to rock the shit out of Gears 2 :P With all that insomniac is going for in R2, and considering they're not a company with empty promises, that's going to be quite the resume to beat.

Gears of war 2 trailer was kinda meh, they DIDN'T have "tons of extra enemies", they were a bunch of people walking around on the floor >_>; Great if you like duck-hunt. The battles seem to be pretty close quarters once again, and dueling chain-saws... I wanna say great in concept, but man it was just a testosterone driven homo-moment ;-; It looked pretty lame >
I'm not one to critique though, I didn't really like the original gears of war and I was quite taken with Resistances weaponry :P So I am speaking with a bit of bias, I think both will be great games, I just think the "greatness" of gears is going to be used to clean Resistances floor :P

I never really liked Resistence...the single player wasn't that bad, but that probably had more to do with the fact it was the only decent game on the PS3 at launch, and probably just seemed like it was better than it actually was when comparing it to the other games available. The multiplayer wasn't anything special, and I personally didn't like it. It was just way to hectic and for the brief period of time I played it, it seems like the only strategy you can have is run and gun till you die, over and over again. Also you can spawn and get killed almost instantly over and over again if you have bad luck. I don't know if it is just me, but Resisitence multiplayer was no fun at all, and the single player was alright, but nothing special, shining a little bit more than it would have if there weren't so many crappy games out at launch.   I like Resistance more, having now played Gears on a friend's Xbox, but Gears was the first great game on the 360, too. Gears also was the best looking game at the time, so it was easy to impress people. Resistance wasn't the only game that was a gem among trash.

 

The difference was, in addition to said monster game, the 360 also had quite the little library of 'quite fun' games, like Perfect Dark, Dead Rising, Fight Night, and DoA at the time.

 

OT: I'm looking forward to Gears 2 much more, as I love the squad-based combat, and I hear the story will be more interesting (the first had great potential, but went nowhere with it).

Gears 2 looks better with improved visuals from UE3 and also seems like it's going to play better with new moves. The movies I saw of Resistence 2 didn't really do it for me. Didn't really think the graphics where better, but it may have stepped up the gameplay.

I'm hoping gears 2 can nail down some interesting weapons (come on guys you did UT3!!! ), have some more intense battles (I did like the semi-frantic ones), I want them to put marcus in some awesome cut-scenes that show off some manliness :P, and for the love of god less grunting and bursts of speech when picking up ammo XD

As for Resistance, I want to see a more varied use of color, give me more goddamn ammo for the over-powered guns @_@, and a bit more on the scare factor :P Maybe mix up the environments as well ;)

How could a fan of Avatar say something so stupid? If you are a true Avatard, I hope you now what episode I am referencing. Anyways, I am interested in playing my brother's copy of R2 for one reason: discovering who the cloven are. I was not a fan of the original's multiplayer and the massive amounts of people that may possibly be in the match does not excite me. I could not careless if it has 60 players in one battle. For me, it is about quality and not quantity.

Yeah the multi normally wouldn't be a huge deal for me, but I LOVE that they're giving the huge multi-maps separate objective based squads with rival teams and such, and the fact that you get points for hitting as well as killing is a major plus, I hate getting kill stolen XD Plus insomniac is known for it's insane weapons :D The multi is going to be a blast I think ^^

Which makes me wonder what the hell happened to Gears of War ;-; Those weapons were so boring >< The chainsaw was fun, but.... c'mon!!!!! Hammer of dawn was great and only worked outside LOL. There were like a total of 8 weapons and like 3 of them were pistols XD That's not the epic I've grown to love ;-;

Wha? IMO, Gears has the best FPS/TPS multiplayer of the generation.

What "sucked" about it? Small squads? Turn-based? Those are pluses in my book, not negatives.

edit: Ah, I see you didn't like the glitching. It never affected me, really. I always played the game with a core group of guys and we had a strict "no glitching" policy.

Anyway, I'm definitely more excited for Gears 2 because of the format of the game. I love the setup and gameplay. But if R2 actually releases with all the features Insomniac is claiming, I'm sure I will buy that and play it a fair amount, too.

Resistance: Fall of Man was better than Gears and Resistance 2 will be better than Gears 2.
