Hmm Resistance is one really generic FPS but fun to play through although the first one was sadly better on all but the technical aspects (single player).

Gears, don't know didn't play it, the whole art direction, level design etc. seems to be a quite a bit more professional then Resistance but the third-person gameplay and the whole curbstomping bullshit are big minus points.

In the end not a fair comparison one of the best FPS developers in existence, who has made some of the best and most memorable PC FPS and the best and biggest guys regarding graphics technologies vs. a console developer that is very new to FPS and has mostly made Jump&Runs before. In this David vs. Goliath fight Insomniac has done astonishingly well. Although I am a bit pissed that they actually managed to make the second game worse.
