Sony has to choices here.
PSP as gaming machine - it gets beaten by Nintendo and DS badly
PSP as media player - it gets utterly abused by Apple and the iPod. Not even funny.
So Sony, which do you want to be? A good second place finish or a laughingstock? Your choice. |
Seriously, Nintendo and Apple are laughing at Sony.
Sony is like that sad dude who thinks he gots it going on in public ,but goes home crying, curled up in the fetal position.(when it comes to handhelds)

You know , its actually funny that you are talking again without knowing no straight facts :
The Ipod managed to sell l~ 11 million units in 3 years , while the PSP passed the 30 million mark . So where are you actually getting your numbers from ? I see that Sony actually managed to sell 6 times as many PSPs as Apple managed to sell Ipods . (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Ipod_sales_2008_Q1.svg )
And as a gaming device , like it or not it is the first one that ever managed to get a significant market % from Nintendo , even now heaving almost 1/3 of the entire market ...
So yeas , the PSP went on a different rute , managing to somehow have a different market than the core market of the DS or Ipod , and thats how they managed to ship over 36 million units to date .
