Hunter_Alien good grief.

Must you split hairs over something not positive being said about the PSP? And no offense, but I can't help but wonder (given your avatar and signiture) if there is just the hint of any bias in your responses within a thread where 99% of the posters disagree with you.

Oh and you own 2 DS? I guess that makes you unbiased, now let's just ignore your avatar, signiture and the dancing patapons.

Seriously though. Check out the 08 best year for psp thread for a good laugh.

He just can't take it when someone says the slightest negative comment on psp.

lol

Your joking right ? You obviously never read my Sony bashing posts , when I bashed them for the bad PSP ads ... or the software sales , when I clearly showed my dissapointment of sales for games like Crush , MoHH2 or AVPR ? ... well you dont know me well enough so keep your opinion about me  to yourself thank you ;)

Oh , and what you say slightest negative comment , you know that for similar negative ones people where banned , just because they where intended to more popular systems ...

Anyways , this is going way OT , and I dont want to get banned just for being iritated . So Il probably wont respond to any comments , and even if Il do it will probably be tomorrow , afther my beauty sleep :D

Who cares, the PSP is the first and only threat that Nintendo has ever faced in the handheld market. The PSP has higher quality games and more multimedia functions than the DS. This means little though because parents prefer to buy their kids a DS over a PSP. I witnessed it myself in Gamestop on Father's Day. This is a bit arrogant on Sony's part. They are both in the handheld market and do tend to compete for the same customers in some instances. The PSP is a great machine, and a lot better than the DS. Piracy has killed the PSP as it did the Dreamcast years before it.

We're all biased here, really, lol, no need to bust him out for it.

However, he is wrong when he tries to marginalize the DS as a kids system. The DS actually has a better selection for gamers of any age.

One could easily marginalize the PSP as a sports game system or a port-console.

Then there is the talking point of metacritic >80 percent numbers that the PSP actually wins.

However, anyone who actually reads the games on that list and then reads the DS list can laugh themselves all the way to the bank DS in hand, noting games like Phoenix Wright don't even make the list.

Or a better judge is comparing the upcoming release schedule of the DS and the PSP, where the DS has what looks like the best release schedule of all time, the PSP is sorely lacking after CC and GoW were recently released.

Games like Wipeout HD can never compare to Mario Kart, Elite Beat Agents, or Phoenix Wright, and those are the types of games you get on the PSP. Sports, racing, ports, "lite" versions of PS2 franchises, and the occasional excellent port.

Metal Gear Portable Ops

Castlevania Dracula X

The Lions War

Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness

Jean De Arc

GoW

Core Crisis

That's your gamers list right there. Those are the games worth owning a PSP for. It's a great library if those are the only games you own.

...but the DS list is just godly. I'd be remiss to list it here, but that's probably what it'll take before this argument is put to rest. The DS list is show stopping.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

No it doesn't, that's a rediculious assertion, frankly.

PSP has higher quality games? This is news to me, as far as i'm concerned every PSP game worth owning is just a watered down PS2 game.

If Portugal doesn't beat Germany tonight, I'll say Portugal wasn't competing in the Euro 2008 cup.

I was about to post that there's no competition, but then Portugal reduced the difference to 2-1. We're officially back in the competition.

Which system has the better games is entirely dependent upon the user, so arguing about it is rather pointless.

Consoles owned: Saturn, Dreamcast, PS1, PS2, PSP, DS, PS3

We have 5 DS's and 1 PSP in our family, I'd say at least 2 of the DS's get used every day. The PSP has hardly ever been used. Sony are correct, the PSP isn't in competition with the DS.

That is true, PSP is the ultimate port console of everything non-Nintendo, which is why I like it MORE than DS. You see, I own only Nintendo systems (just got a Sega Saturn but it still hasn't arrived) and a PSP.

I don't think it's all ports though. Here are the games I want/have

Ports

Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions

Sega Genesis Collection

Tales of Eternia

Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness

Harvest Moon: Boy and Girl

Riviera: The Promised Land

Ape Escape: On the Loose

GTA: Vice City Stories

Valkeryie Profile: Lenneth

Metal Slug Anthology

Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops

Space Invaders Extreme

Castlevania: Dracula X Chronicles

Mega Man Powered up!

Gradius Collection

Final Fantasy Anniversary Edition

Capcom Classics Collection remixed

Capcom Classics Collection Reloaded

Namco Museum Battle

I have played Sonic the Hedgehog 1 and 2, and have played riviera on GBA. All the other games are brand new to me, and those 3 I metnion I love and would like to replay them anyway. PSP is great.

Original Titles:

Patapon

God of War: Chains of Olympus

LocoRoco

Jeanne D'arc

Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep

Rachet and Clank: Size Matters

Daxter

Burnout: Dominator

GTA: Liberty City Stories

Sonic Rivals

Tales of the World: Raidiant Mythology

Sonic Rivals 2

Me and My Katamari

Innocent Life: A futuristic Harvest Moon

Wild Arms XF

Grand Turismo Portable

PSP is better than DS for some audiences, and they are therfore competeting. (Note- PSP also has great sports and shooter games for a handheld, but those do't interest me) PSP is better if

1. You really like Playstation Franchises

2. You havn't played all the ports and their are lots of games you want from ports.

3. You want to be able to listen to movies and music but don't have/don't want to carry around an iPod

4. Feel that better graphics and analog stick>touch controls

5. Want to play Sports games or FPS/TPS games on a handheld.

...DS is for everyone else, which is why the PSP is somewhat marginalized in software. #3 ups hardware but not software. people in group #5 buy only a few games. Many in group #4 pirate. I think at this point it is mostly Sony fans and people wise enough to see the value of playing all those old games for cheap and having them be portable (thats me) who are driving the PSP.

My brother was thinking buy a PSP for GTA, but later he choose the DS over the PSP so both are in competition.
