Title First week in US World total
Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games 97,734 4.57 million
Big Brain Academy 38,754 2.43 million
Carnival Games 38,727 1.96 million
Resident Evil 4 89,440 1.64 million
Sonic and the Secret Rings 51,748 1.40 million
Rayman Raving Rabbids 67,716 1.35 million
Lego Star Wars 40,831 1.29 million
Raving Rabbids 2 49,094 1.26 million
Resident Evil: UC 88,582 1.26 million
MySims 46,178 1.10 million

Boom Blox is now at 210k worldwide. I think a precedent has been well established that a title can launch to low sales and still sell very well in the long run.

Why are you comparing the first week sales of those to the over one month sales of Boom Blox.... It makes no sense to me.

Boom Blox first week in US - 25,738 <- half of what Sims was....

You're right.  It's closer to Big Brain Academy in terms of first week sales, isn't it?  That game went on to sell more than twice as much as MySims (so far).

i think boom blox will also sell more then a million, but i think that will happen in 2009

I think EA will not release Boom Blox in japan after Mysims was a total flop there, BTW is Mysims also a niche unadvertised game?

It's already well into the language conversion process and marketing dollars already spent so Japan is getting the title.

I think thats great then, so Mysims in japan wasnt a total flop after all. I wonder, is the reason why EA change the theme of Mysims and turn it to Mysims Kingdom was because EA knows Nintendo will make Animal Crossing and its in works now?

end of core gaming days prediction:

E3 2006-The beginning of the end. Wii introduced

E3 2008- Armageddon. Wii motion plus introduced. Wii Music. Reggie says Animal crossing was a core game. Massive disappointment. many Wii core gamers selling their Wii.

E3 2010- Tape runs out

Why do Americans call Lego "legos"

Because one brick is a Lego and many bricks are Legos. Who just plays with one Lego?

If the game is already making a profit EA should lower the price to 39.99, that is when the casual gamers will begin buying it in hordes.

Right now there are cheaper casual choices.

End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)

Wii- 72 million   3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases

360- 37 million   Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak

PS3- 29 million  Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut

Im bumping this thread to show the good news

Just as like what I expected

Why do Americans call Lego "legos"

Funny enough, the Lego company hates it when we do that. They want you to say Lego brick or Lego bricks. Wikipedia says they use to have inserts in their catalogue in the 70's and 80's that said the following.

"The word LEGO® is a brand name and is very special to all of us in the LEGO Group Companies. We would sincerely like your help in keeping it special. Please always refer to our bricks as 'LEGO Bricks or Toys' and not 'LEGOS.' By doing so, you will be helping to protect and preserve a brand of which we are very proud and that stands for quality the world over. Thank you! Susan Williams, Consumer Services."

Yeah, basically, EA just owned haters.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

When wil they stop making fool of themselve? Isn't enough people laughing at them already?

I always called them legos. I won't call a bridge/sword/head/tree a brick... It's a lego. At best, it's a piece.

How many cups of darkness have I drank over the years? Even I don't know...

Did you see me post Bloom Box sales? No, you didn't so why are you assuming I'm comapring such? I'm simply showing how what starts off as slow by many expectations can still sell quite well in the long.

Yushire, those are VGC's first week America numbers.

I think Boom Blox 1st week was undertracked...  In an interview with MTV, didn't an EA person, in addition to pwning the MTV interviewer, confirm that the 60k NPD figure was based off of just one week of sales!?
