Forums - Sales - Wii sales will slow down

Talk about stating the obvious. Sales of all three consoles will slow down eventually. The HD consoles will slow down before the Wii though.

Why? It's consistant with every single console released that the ones behind are going to fall off first.

That's really how consumer behavior works.

The only thing remotely similar that is any different is the DS... and the DS didn't drop off because of limited appeal or anything, it dropped off because it sold over 20 million in a nation of like... 130 million.

However the PSP won't pass it in japan. PSP won't get close... the PSP is selling better short term but will still fall well short of the DS.

I mean, i guess you could argue wii is going to sell 15 million+ in Japan or so in the next two years.  Seems like a lot though.

LOL. Yes. The sales on all systems slow down after years on the market. Atari isn't still sold out is it?

Why is the thread going on? I bet obie did this to increase his vg bucks or play a crappy joke.

Damn things have changed since 2009 began. Here are my new visions for the end of the generation.

Wii: 135 mil

Ps3: 85 mil

360: 60 mil

True Genius

Where is the reasoning to explain beliefs such as the original poster's which can be corresponded with logical thought and actual data? I honestly don't see any evidence of the Wii slowing down any time soon, yet obieslut seems to insist upon it regularly. Perhaps something a bit more solid is in order to back the claim up? Because thus far, about all I've seen is what appears to be a series of guesses based upon what obieslut wants to believe is true.

If this was meant to be an opinion piece, then it wasn't very well composed, I'm sorry to say. The tone and formatting suggested certainty, which is a big no-no when stating an opinion. Certainty without data is basically going on faith. And if human history has taught us anything, it's taught us that faith is a messy subject to bring up, and best left alone in group discussions in the interest of continued civility...

Yes i said it, i think the Wii sales will slow down.

Soon the Wii is going to hit the market saturation point just like the ds did in japan.

I think that the Wii only has so many people that want it, and nearly everyone who wants can afford one and thats why the sales have been wild. But once the Wii hits that magic number of the people who want one then the sales will decline.

my date is 2010, that year Wii will see a big decline in numbers

uh, you do realize what it means to hit saturation don't you?  1 out of every 5 people in Japan has a DS, that's why it's saturated.  It didn't have the population left to sell it to, but it's also still selling a pretty good amount each week and every new unit sold is a new record for most units sold in Japan.  Wii will probably decline in 2010, but it's actually completely normal for systems to do that in their 4th year on the market.

 Exactly what I was wondering!

This topic cannot possibly have factual data to support it, by simple definition. Any topic with a subject like: "Any the distant future where modern empirical data cannot accurately forecast, I predict..." is doomed to failure.

The end.
