I can't figure out why Japan, creative as its developers can be, insist on using gameplay and narrative techniques that were rendered outdated a decade ago by western RPGs. And on top of that, it's a remake. It doesn't matter how much has been added or how polished it is; it's still basically the same thing I've already played on two consoles. Of course, it doesn't matter what I think. People will still buy it just because of name recognition, and further reinforce Square-Enix's mindset that new IPs can be thrown onto the back burner. |
Is it just me or half the new users start off by trolling. When you are a new user on site, I don't think it's a good thing to make claims such as "it hasn't aged well". Even if you weren't a new user, the point who still remind that it's your opinion and you're right, it doesn't matter what you think. There is an audience for WRPG and one for JRPG. Personally, I can't stand WRPG at all but I won't post that on a WRPG game thread.
However, I agree with what you say about Square, they're seem to be the new gods of milking.
How many cups of darkness have I drank over the years? Even I don't know...
Oh man I will get it but I will have no time for it XD....
To many games X_X....

Day one for me as well. Matrix software is a very good developer and FFIV is my favorite old-school RPG. Excellent remake of FFIV + difficulty of the japanese original + having all features of the GBA port + staying to the style and gameplay of the original is full of win for me.
I am a HUGE fan of Final Fantasy, and I played through FF IV some ten years ago. I also own a DS. Strangely enough, none of the Final Fantasy releases on the DS has appealed to me. I don't know why, really. Maybe it's the thought of playing a game I already played. Maybe it's the graphics that turn me off (even though this seems like great graphics compared to other 3d DS games...). Or maybe I just have given up on the old Active Time Battle system entirely.
Hmm...
This is invisible text!
I'll be getting it day 1 in Europe.
Final Fantasy III for DS was the first FF I played (excluding Crystal Chronicles). Since bought V and VI but skipped IV (GBA) in favor of this, it looks like a great game
Definite purchase for me.

Or check out my new webcomic: http://selfcentent.com/
A total most own for me:
Final Fantasy Anniversary Edition (PSP)
Final Fantasy II Anniversary Edition (PSP)
Final Fantasy III (NDS)
Final Fantasy IV (NDS)

Really? It wasn't Final Fantasy VII or X? Not even Tactics?
FF III for the DS felt like such a rip-off to me for 40 dollars....
