Doesn't excite me in the slightest. I liked FFIV when I first played it, but like its entire genre, it hasn't aged well. I can't figure out why Japan, creative as its developers can be, insist on using gameplay and narrative techniques that were rendered outdated a decade ago by western RPGs.

And on top of that, it's a remake. It doesn't matter how much has been added or how polished it is; it's still basically the same thing I've already played on two consoles. Of course, it doesn't matter what I think. People will still buy it just because of name recognition, and further reinforce Square-Enix's mindset that new IPs can be thrown onto the back burner.

Is it just me or half the new users start off by trolling. When you are a new user on site, I don't think it's a good thing to make claims such as "it hasn't aged well". Even if you weren't a new user, the point who still remind that it's your opinion and you're right, it doesn't matter what you think. There is an audience for WRPG and one for JRPG. Personally, I can't stand WRPG at all but I won't post that on a WRPG game thread.

However, I agree with what you say about Square, they're seem to be the new gods of milking.

JRPGs can still be good.  The reason why JRPGs are still using the gameplay and narritive techniques is because the Japanese gamers don't really mind sticking to traditions i.e. Dragon Quest
