Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Why are the controls in Legend of Zelda:TP criticised?

I hate the arrow shooting mechanics while riding the horse. sucks so hard that I got frustrated in that stupid burining wagon task I completely gave up on Zelda: TP.

Never have returned, probably will never.

Could you imagine trying to do that using the old N64 controls though? It'd be impossible :P Obviously you CAN do it using the gamecube controls, but I can't even imagine how much trouble that would have to be.

Seppukuties is like LBP Lite, on crack. Play it already!

Currently wrapped up in: Half Life, Portal, and User Created Source Mods
Games I want: (Wii)Mario Kart, Okami, Bully, Conduit,  No More Heroes 2 (GC) Eternal Darkness, Killer7, (PS2) Ico, God of War1&2, Legacy of Kain: SR2&Defiance

My Prediction: Wii will be achieve 48% market share by the end of 2008, and will achieve 50% by the end of june of 09. Prediction Failed.

@Parokki: I'm confused, spin attack on the Cube was pulled off by holding down the B button.

That was one way, but the faster way was to make a circle with the analog stick. I almost never got it to work when it was needed the most. ;__;

But yeah, guess I phrased that pretty badly.

Well the GC version makes it easier, since you just do lock-ons.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

As for the wagon escort task, it's a matter of not letting the wagon get hit at certain positions along the way (otherwise the wagon takes one more lap around the area).

OK, I guess the conclusion is that certain Wii boards on some gaming sites are not fitted with fans that show true fandom of the Wii. If anything, opinion balancing bans are in order to those sites so that the average opinion of the Wii is in line with the general public's opinion.

I didn't know the controls were criticised, I liked them a lot.

i liked them.. i had more of a problem with the overall atmosphere of the game.. don't ask me what in particular, i'm not even sure myself

I wasn't enamored with the "motion=button press" part of the controls, and the slight lag got annoying in the Zelda fight, but apart from that, I thought the controls were pretty good.

I loved Twilight Princess' controls. Though admittedly, I never used IR aiming, I relegated that to the control stick. Waggle swordplay was fine, but I think NMH's approach is better in retrospect.

It is because they made link right handed. A true hardcore player would have insisted that Link swing his sword with his left hand.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy
