Could MGS 4 give a small boost before launch as well?

NG Sigma was basically a port of the older Xbox 1 version. It wasn't even approved of by the series creator who will not even acknowledge the game! NG2 is the true sequel to the Xbox NG game.

OT: Yes there is a small chance it could happen. It would probably just be for that specific week if it happens and the total HW boost won't be that significant either way. (Well I guess it will compared to the low sales that the 360 currently has in JP)

I think it would be highly unlikely Mr. Stickball. Ninja Gaiden has never been a big selling title. I think it is possible that the 360 could out sell the PS3 for a week here or there in Japan. I just don't think NG2 is the game to do it. If sales continue to be poor for both consoles in Japan. I think Tales of Vesperia or Infinite Undisovery would give the 360 its best shot at surpassing the PS3 in sales for the week.

I doubt it with all the hype around Metal Gear Solid 4, but it would be interesting to see.

Maybe but unlikely. Both PS3 and 360 are pretty much dead in Japan. Even if it does out sell PS3 that is not exactly a bar I think anyone wants it to make.

It wouldn't be hard for another 8000 dedicated individuals to suddenly show up to buy an X360 for this game... Considering the large population of Japan. The game might get just enough of those apathetic people through the cracks.
