Forums - Gaming - Guitar Hero becoming Rock Band

I like the drum setup for the new GH, but Neversoft isn't getting a dime of my money. They're a bunch of cocky bastards. In the recent GI interview, they continually took shots at Harmonix and Rock Band.

For a company that is blatantly ripping off the competition after taking over said competition's leftover franchise, I think they should try to be a little more humble.
Especially when they can't even make a game that is half as good as its predecessors.  After trying Guitar Hero III, Activision/Neversoft aren't getting another penny from me.  I am kind of interested in Rock Band now, however...

rockband DLC > GH DLC

So far, this is true. However, we don't know what the DLC for GHIV will look like.

I think it will stay that way for the simple fact that Rock Band DLC is supposed to carry on to the sequels! I don't think Activision would do that since they want us to spend as much money as possible.

Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.

the nintendo wii will outsell the ps3 and the 360 combined by the end of 2008.

PS3 will out sell the 360 june 2010.

GOTY of 2008 is super smash brothers brawl.... hopefully.

END OF 08 PREDICTIONS:

Wii: 45 million         xbox360: 26 million       PS3: 19 million (made beginning of 08)

wii: 44 million         xbox 360: 24 million      PS3: 21 million (made june 08)

wii code: 8094-5344-2140-1400

brawl code: 5412-9565-3232

While Rock Band will probably be superior, EA and Harmonix blew it by not releasing it sooner for Wii, or in Europe. They'll only have a few months before zillions of GHIII owners will be able to upgrade for cheaper and with fewer accessories all over the place.

But I bet Harmonix is already working on the next big thing. Hip-Hop Hero this Cmas?

"[Our former customers] are unable to find software which they WANT to play."
"The way to solve this problem lies in how to communicate what kind of games [they CAN play]."

Satoru Iwata, Nintendo President. Only slightly paraphrased.

Sooner or later rock band will have to come out with another one
To be honest once you get past the whole band aspect rock band sucks. It isn't a challenge after awhile. Also the online mode is horrible and the equipment breaks on a daily basis. GH3 will destroy rock band for the wii and ps2 and maybe 3. I was going to get rock band wii but now im not. There is so much too do it seems fake, custom songs online head to head rock band battles, the biggest settlist ever and DLC for the wii

"World Tour" will be the third "Guitar Hero" game coming out this year.

Is it just me, or did everyone miss the fact that this is a totally separate game from Guitar Hero 4? Perhaps that was implied in some of the comments, didn't sound like it.

Also on topic, Activision milking of Guitar Hero has officially begun. They will kill off its popularity within a couple of years, sadly. This franchise is guaranteed to be the next Tony Hawk by 2012.

My Website

End of 2008 totals: Wii 42m, 360 24m, PS3 18.5m (made Jan. 4, 2008)

for some reason i feel that this will cut its sales,as it will be to expensive for many people

Competition is always good. The first one to make a non-gimped Wii version will get my money.

That would be Guitar Hero. They have some how found a way to do the impossible and add dlc to the Wii version. When Harmonix gets around to making anything other than a half-assed port they put no effort into we might get a real version of Rock Band on the Wii, but it will be a while I think.

Aerosmith, DS version, and GH 4. The Aerosmith one is the only part that makes me fear for how milked the franchise will become. Seeing the list of mprovements in GH 4 (and not all of them are from Rock Band) I have a lot of faith in the series. It will eventually collapse on itself, but it will still take a while thanks to competition.

I just love how it's called GUITAR Hero and has all the the new peripheral. (No matter how many words you put after the title to make it sound more universal, sticking "GUITAR" in there makes it look... simply retardedly contridicting.) Originality = Gone?
*Sigh*

Sony will prevail. My 60 gig says so.

PlayStation 3 Games:

- Rock Band
- Rock Band 2
- Soulcalibur IV
- LittleBigPlanet
- Guitar Hero: World Tour
