Forums - Nintendo - What's coming for Nintendo?

What massive titles does Nintendo still have. Mario and Zelda are far from the only two profitable major system selling game franchises! Nintendo has plenty of million copy seller franchises left up its sleeve!

-StarFox

-Donkey Kong

-Animal Crossing

-Pikmin3

-Kid Icarus (Pretty much confirmed by IGN)

-Paper Mario (real RPG sequel)

-Kirby

-Pokemon (Pokemon Battle Revolution didn't really count as it lacked any real improvements infact it detracted from past improvements)

-MarioParty (We know number 9,10 will at least both be for the Wii)

Then don't forget the confirmed franchises and the lesser impactual Nintendo franchises!

- Disaster series (Disaster:DayOfCrisis)

- Custom Robo

- Project H.A.M.M.E.R (Still possibility)

- Future Wii Balance Board titles

- NintenDogs

Also Virtual Console releases

-EarthBound

-SuperMarioRPG

-StarFox (SNES)

-Donkey Kong 64

So with the new Balance board we will see multiple new games coming out that will utalize the board. I know third parties are already supporting it Raving Rabbids 3 anyone. Fact is the Wii is ever evolving and the continued support of third parties as well as the remaining Nintendo franchises can guarantee success of the Wii! Lets not also forget that another Zelda game is mid development!

Many massive titles to come soon!

Nintendo certainly has one or two big games left unannounced. I also think they'll duplicate the DS strategy, so that 3rd parties can have a bigger part of the pie.

4 likely Nintendo games:

Kid Icarus
Animal Crossing
Donkey Kong Country
Disaster: Day of Crisis

3rd party X-mas possible blockbusters:

Tales of Symphonia
Fatal Frame 4
Red Steel 2
Rabidds 3
Mega Man(?)
Guitar Hero 4
Rygar
Tecmo Bowl

Yeah thats just talking about the games coming this fall. Third parties have alot up their sleeves for the Wii stille too. We have RockBand also coming this summer, yes it was on all of the platforms but I think the Wii version will sell to all of the casual gamers who don't own 360/PS3's!

Also third party games coming soon!

-Sonic Unleashed  (Exclusive Wii version)

-StarWars:TheForceUnleashed (Exclusive Wii online mode)

-FinalFantasyChrystalChronicles:ChrystalBearers

Lets not forget our third party games from Indy Studios!

-TheConduit (HighVoltageGames)

-Jet Black Games 3 exclusive games in development

-LostWinds2 (Frontier Studios)

Uh. Guys. The lists are great and all.... but he was basically talking 4-5 million+ hardware sees a huge boost type games.

Which granted... for the second part of that Nintendo could make any game that depending on what they do with supply.... but the first part.

Iwata said that Nintendo has a new policy where they are not going to announce any new games until they are within 6 months of coming out. Trust me, they haven't used up all of there ideas yet. The balance board is going to lead to other Nintendo games. Wait until 1080 Snowboarding comes out!!!

Malstrom seems convinced that Nintendo will announce a new DS at E3.

What do you guys think?

I'm skeptical, I know the DS lite been out for a while but I think it's got plenty of life left. Software support is very strong, sales have slowed but they are still great, plus they could annoy a lot of customers who have just bought a DS lite and are discovering how great Nintendo products can be.

We got so many huge releases in the last few months but we still cry for more. Don't worry I'm not picking on you guys, I'm just like you :D

Wii Chess has been released in Europe since January. I bought it because I like chess and has online as well. It's not a massive seller. I think it actually sold just a few copies. Last time I checked Vgchartz still presents its European sales at 0,0. Which, of course, isn't true. I own it! :)

Sure but you and your lone copy are well within the acceptable margin of error .

As for Starcraft, if what you are looking for is not good/great games but system sellers then 2 things:

_Why do you list a Zelda Wii when there already is a multimillion selling Zelda on the Wii? Most people buying the next Wii Zelda will already have the Wii unless you foresee much bigger sales for it than for twilight princess so it shouldn't be a system seller.

_Given the latest NPD results with GTA4 is becomes harder to predict what games will be system sellers (Halo 3 sold quite a few systems but GTA4 didn't? Strange, you would expect multiplatform systemselling games to dilute hardware boosts between both platforms, not cancel both boosts).

The reality is that the biggest system sellers are often hard to predict because they are either new games offering new experiences (SMB on NES, Wii Sport and Wii Fit on Wii) or old franchiseschanging enough to offer new experiences like going from 2D to 3D or including movie-like cutscenes (or as movie like as possible at the time of release: FFVII was such a game, GTA3 and Mario 64 too for the 2D to 3D gameplay changes).

Also, a previous generation's system seller is less likely to be as huge a system seller in subsequent generations as the freshness is either gone or at least diminished and due to the expectation of them having a sequel they are taken into account in system purchases as soon as they are announced and so while they might still help sell a lot of systems it is not as much noticeableas many of them are sold beforehand  over a long period of time (unless they are launch year games.).

Personally I think that Wii Sports is this generation's biggest system seller, not because it was sold with many Wii's but because many Wiis were sold because of it and the boosting effect to sales trends that real system sellers like GTA 3 and Wii Sport have on sales is even bigger than the sales of these games themselves (or the sales Wii sport would have had had it not been bundled) as they tend to set the sales trends higher by affecting the popularity of the systems act as a multiplier to sales and as  Wii Sport was a launch title its effect was applied since the launch, hence the higher rate than PS2 since launc, rate that was mostly kept  so "low" due to supply constraints.

However due to Wii Sport's bundled nature Wii Fit might be seen as the biggest system seller of this generation as it will be much easily quantifiable (though not that easily as Na is still supply constrained).

well lol i like the part where you said only resistance 2 and mgs4 will be top sellers. but leave that aside.

regarding the wii situation, its true there isnt anything upcoming for core gamers, and imo nintendo dont need any, i just finished a shift yesterday in argos superstore, and the wii pod they have on display had crowds of kids with theier mums and dads surrounding it all day. so all thats coming from nintendo is money being made of sales of the consoles and games.

I said guarenteed sales.  You believe the PS3 has games other than these two that are GUARENTEED to have monster sales this year?  You'll notice I only mentioned Gears of War 2 and Fable 2 for the Xbox 360, as they, once again, are the only titles with GUARENTEED monster sales.
