I think it will be a little higher. There are bundles and the game is much more hyped than the previous MGS games.
Furthermore the average PS3 owner is much more "harcore" than the average PS2 owner was. Therefore I think that a first week of 300.000 should be possible.

I don't think it will have good legs though. But ultimately it could do around 600.000 I think.

I think PS3 sales could be around 60.000 release week, but dropping quite fast to its base level of around 10.000. Something like 60.000 - 40.000 - 20.000 - 15.000.

300k first week , 600 k ltd. the ps3 will rise to 75k that week and will return to form after.

I think MGS will have some impact, but not the impact some think. It will be big the first week and I can see it selling 40k PS3's a week the next 3-5 weeks following launch. After that I see the PS3 settling at around 25-30k a week. it will definately improve the PS3's weely sales in japan, but certianly won't bring it up to Nintendo's weekly averages by itself.

My prediction:

First week for MGS: 300k
First Week for PS3: 58k

One month afterwards
MGS: will have sold about 600k in total
PS3: will be at 15k-20k level

It will be ps3's big game for the year
(i mean exclusive) and it'll sell well, i think
But when compared to exclusives to other
consoles, it'll be somewhat of a letdown

But here's to a bright future for both
Konami and Sony :)

MGS has never been as popular in Japan as the series has been in the US
