Are you at least gonna try the other controllers? First one I'm trying is gonna be Wii-mote + Nunchuk. ^___^

Your idea is good...but I'm pretty sure Sakurai said the D-pad would activate those premade chat phrases. Perhaps he could save D-down as a button...but using that for jump would be too awkward in my opinion...D-down should be grab I think.

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

True, however those messages only appear during taunts. and you can't jump during taunts. A and B should definitely be attack/special attacks. and the jump button really should be close to these buttons. So I think the d-pad (any direction) should be jump. and 1 and 2 should do nothing. way to far away from A and B for this game. SSB is the kind of game where you want to be very accurate, so letting go of A to reach down there would be bad.

So I think d-pad to jump while not taunting, messages while taunting. My controls are the best I have seen for Wii-mote and Nunchuk. Someone had the same as me but they switched C and Z, but I think Z needs to be grab.

Zero Suit Samus could be selectable from the start...that's unknown right now.

Also, "It'll be cool only if the Wii controls match or exceed the Game Cube ones."

I'm sure the Wii controls will be fine...an analog stick in the left hand, an A, B, Z, and C buttons easily accessible? That's standard attack, special attack, grab, shield...the only missing button would be a jump button, if certain people prefer pressing a button to jump. If so...I dunno...grab could be the "minus" button or something. The D controls are those quick, premade chat phrases I think.

There's no need for a shield button, I never used it in Melee, why would I want to use it in Brawl? Give me a jump button instead.

The shield button was really important in Melee. It was how you dodged and air dodged. You'll get your butt kicked if you don't know how to use it right.

I guess that's why I held the best k.o.:get killed ratio of all the people (10+) who played it. If you know what you are doing you don't need to know how to use the shield button.

Besides, the use of the shield button was called dishonorable right from the start when we played the game. Those who used it were alone up against the other three people.

Just try to beat someone, equally good as you (offense wise), who know how to use the shield. You'd get your ass kicked.

I just think pressing D-down for jumping would be too awkward in quick fights....reaching up for the D pad and then back down to A would get tedious (yes I know I sound uber-lazy...but it does matter in really quick games like Smash Bros).

A jump button on the nunchuck would make the right hand easier to play...and using the D pad for grabs would be more acceptable, because grabbing isn't used as often or needed to be as fast. Once you grab...you're stuck grabbing for a few milliseconds anyway.

Umm... I practised the use of the shield so often I can play versus a Level 9 CPU and it will hit me only 1 out of 10 times... and I guess that´s the case with a lot of people here.

Rol, you are crazy. But that´s the reason we like so you so much

-_-

The d-pad is millimeters away from the A button. Now, I don't know about you, but I can put my right thumb over both the A button and the d-pad......at the same time! There is no unnecessary movement needed for me. Also, I meant that any button on the d-pad would be jump: up, down, left and right. So you can't put the pat of your thumb with the line going across on the A button, and the top part of your thumb on the d-pad?

I think the d-pad is very close to the A button...I'm actually surprised by how close. It's very easy to use missiles, for instance, in Metroid Prime 3.

Exactly, you don't even have to reach for the d-pad, the tip of your finger can easily be on the d-pad while the rest of your finger is over the A button.
