This game looks awesome!
After some of the comments already here, i hope this game gets high reviews to shut you all up:)

AND don't judge a game that isn't even out yet duh.
Rare have said do not judge the game until it is released.

If we can't say it looks crap, you can't say it looks awesome. That sound fair to you?

I can say it looks awesome, you can say it looks crap but i think your wrong. I didn't say don't say it, i just don't like it when people talk negatively about a game, it's nicer to say nice, happy things about a fun and cheerful series:)

....That is....terrible. So much potential wasted...they turned one of the best platformers of the N64 generation into a Twisted metal/GTA/mariokart game. I was so frikkin pumped for this, and now I have lost about 90% of my interest in it. What the hell was that?

The end is just sad too. It reeks of the old Crash Bandicoot commercials. Many have come and tried to dethrone Mario, and all have failed and turned into 3rd rate stars (crash, spyro, Sonic). Looking at this video, I don't think Mario has much competition.

Yeah, they should have done what nintendo does. Remake the same game over and over and upgrade graphics and backgrounds... Shame on you Rare for trying something different.

I personally didn't care much for Banjo before but now this looks like a must play as it looks like it won't be the same 3D platformer we've all been playing since Mario 64.

See, why do you have to flame Nintendo because you are insecure about how Banjo looks?

I'm sick of these silly arguments that attempt to marginalize Nintendo games by claiming that they are all remakes of something from the N64. Have you even played Wii sports, Radiant Dawn, Pikmin 2, Mario Galaxy, Twilight Princess, Brawl, Metroid Prime or Super Paper Mario? These games are modern classics, and you attempt to marginalize them, and Nintendo who also happens to be the most consistantly good developers in the world.

....while you praise Rare in the same paragraph.

You sicken me with your comments, I don't care how they were goaded out of you.

Who knows if this game is great, or sucks? It's certainly not inspiring confidence with that trailer, I don't care how you spin it, but to praise Rare for "at least trying something different" is damage control of the highest order. You are basically admitting that it looks bad, but at least it's different.

I don't care, I woulda never bought this either way. If you want this genre of game that badly and you don't own a Wii, your a fanboy, broke, or biased.

When you flame Nintendo after you look at a trailer for a platformer for Xbox, it's like your getting the damage control out of the way before its even confirmed that this might be a AA game at best(who knows really, but that's what your obviously thinking).

I'm sorry if this offends banjo fans, I own a 360, but I just don't like people flaming other games and consoles in an attempt to justify their own.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

I'm just saying it doesn't look like what Banjo fans were looking for.

Yeah, that's what kind of rubs me the wrong way. It's looks very interesting, but it doesn't seem like it really has all that much to do with Banjo-Kazooie. Like you can replace all the BK characters and it wouldn't really matter. Artstyle seems more rigid now, maybe to flow better with the dominant vehicle theme. Just seems like if this what they've been doing maybe it shouldn't have been called Banjo-Threeie. Just a thought.

Did Resident Evil 4 turn out so bad...after it pissed on everything Resident Evil games were about?

nice comparison... a horror game about shooting zombies in prerendered backrounds goes to shooting zombies in full 3D environments, that seems like a logical step for survival horror games.

A 3D platformer that is about exploring, solving puzzles turns into a game about making, driving, and blowing up vehichles.  I don't see the connection.  The video was almost completely focused on the vehicles.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

Well, I'm pretty disappointed at the vehicle-heavy nature of it. I really wanted an old-school Banjo game.

With that said, the vehicle-heavy nature of it with platforming elements are intriguing and could retain much of the platformer feel if done well.

I'm still cautiously pessimistic on the game. I won't crucify Rare for taking their own franchise in a new direction but this game almost instantly went into the "rent and maybe buy after a few hours of play" category in my eyes.

Forgive me in asking this as I don't really follow the trends for platformers...but arent standard platformers on their last legs at this point? Mario sells...but rest have died off like cows in a lightning storm.

While you say that nobody wanted a spin-off...I wasn't even considering this game as I thought exactly what you did. I'll be hoping around...shooting fruits at things and have cheesy plot to follow...

After seeing the preview I've realized that some thought has gone in to this game to expand the known platformer and that it may have the freedom I need to have a good gaming experience these days. So I wouldn't say nobody wanted this...except maybe the die hard fans of the old game.

That's just like...your opinion, man.  I think we need a poll here or somewhere, because I think a large majority of people who at least PLAYED the original, don't have to be die-hard fans, would have preferred a genuine platformer sequel.

Platformers are on their last legs?  Oh yeah, that's because all the recent platformers suck other than the big-names.  Developers aren't developing platformers because they're lazy, because platformers require huge, creative, unique levels, and the more levels the better.  Platformers aren't as popular simply because they stopped making good ones.  This game could have been an awesome new platformer as well as a homage to the old stuff (as Rare likes to do anyway, because that's all they can do to remember how great they once were).

I think its silly to say that platformers aren't popular becuase they stopped making good ones. They started running out of ideas maybe. Yet when a new idea is presented like this it gets booed by old school fans. You are asking for new inventive levels...yet the developers have to stick to the old platforming formula...it sounds like a double standard te me.

I played the old banjo game...I was 16 at the time and it was a fun game 10 years ago. Today however that same game would be brushed aside like the latest offerings from Rayman, Crash, Sonic, Spyro or whatever platformer doesn't try to evolve.

Here is a question...lets say that game scores 9 + in most reviews...is it still a failure in your eyes?

YEAH!!! THIS IS MORE LIKE IT!
The only thing that could save Rare's old reputation was some innovation.
With this game, they'll have the first platformer since Banjo-Tooie to challenge Super Mario greatness.
And to all of you who are begging for old-school platforming: people always want freshness in franchises. Now that Rare will bring it, it's still not good enough? What do you want?
In the end, I think it's ideal. The ''hardcore'' ''blood&sex'' gamers will think it's better because of the vehicles, the 360 fanboys will love the attack towards Nintendo, the Nintendo fanboys will laugh and call it a joke, and the neutral gamers will be sceptical until they see the splendid results that Rare'll get.
It's a win for everybody.

And I lolrofllmfao'ed at the end, with Banjo shooting off Mario's head. I think the game's capable of it.

if this was the wii it would be getting a normal banjo platformer. They are too scared to put out a traditional platformer on 360 because they know it isn't going to do that well. I knew from the start this was going to be something different. I'm not gonna say it isn't innovative, but much of it is just them conforming to the 360 userbase.

For the record, I have both a Nintendo Wii and a Xbox 360. This made me shake my head in disgust. Good god, what are they thinking? Oh well, guess it's to be expected of Rare nowadays.

Probably not, if it's that good.  Though I probably wouldn't be interested in the game either...this doesn't exactly look like my kind of game.

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )
