The point is that I don't see much diversity or flexibility across genres coming from an engine built with a SRPG in mind. YMMV.

But do you have proof it was? Being the first game only proves it's the first game made using it.

Do you have proof that the engine can easily do other genres or even just games different from Valkyria Chronicles?

You're insisting on the game being specific to a genre, not anyone else. That means you have the burden of proof, not anyone else. I'm just challenging your claim.
And engines are assumed to be non specific to a genre unless stated otherwise, so you really have to give us proof of your claim.

Good game wasted on the Wii.
I hope for a PS3 version, because the Wii version will be nothing more than a PS2 quality RPG. After playing Eternal Sonata and Lost Odyssey, I want more RPG's with that type of quality. That's way too much to expect from a Wii game.

We have proof that the engine can do one kind of game and that game is Valkyria Chronicles. If you want to say the engine can do more kinds of games than that, you need to prove it. ^_^
Engines have always (since the NES era) been assumed to be specific to a game/genre until shown otherwise. Traditionally all game engines have been specific to their series. The idea of multi-use engines is actually a fairly new one AFAIK that has only really come into the fore in the last generation.

YOU ARE MAKING THE CLAIM. Stop pretending otherwise.

Good choice! The Gamecube version has some nifty extras the Dreamcast version doesn't as well.
