don't get me wrong. the number is still high. Where are the 11 mil people who bought the sytem?

i wish people would stop looking at just north american sales when they try to explain things like supply.

a likely reason for north american wii shipments not being very big the week before is that Wii Fit was being released in Europe and supply may have been shifted to accomidate that release.

it's also likely that this shipment has been shifted from other regions to North America to accomidate the Mario Kart Wii launch.

we've seen it many times with other anticipated releases. why are people forgetting to look at it the same way now?

i'm not going to say Nintendo don't stockpile. i actually think they do, but not for specific games. i'd say it's more for the end of year holiday period. and it's probably not as bad as people think.

if Nintendo wanted an extra million units available for that period, they can put away 100k per month from Jan-Oct and have an extra million by the start of november. that's only ~25k units coming out of worldwide weekly supply. i don't see that as such a bad thing. and they wouldnt even have to do that amount if they rush January supply to the stores early.

You mean sales didn't result in more 3rd party games like Rock Band, Call of Duty 5, Guitar Hero IV, Deadly Creature, Fragile, and Conduit?

Honestly, you can no longer deliver a blow to me at all, with a weak, old, Wii-Bingo talking point.

I was certainly being annoying, but you were posting damage control and it's my duty to call you out on it. Otherwise, then the PS3 does really well, and somebody did the same thing, I would feel hypocritical for calling them out on damage control.

PS3 did well this week. No need to belittle another consoles accomplishments.

The PS3 didn't dethrone the Wii like leo-j suggested and GTAIV wasn't the end of an era, nor did it change the gaming landscape like many had hoped it would.

It's been said many times that the Wii could win even with a monumental screwup or three. However, Nintendo is playing this gen, and continues to play it very, very, very well.

That's why I can't let spin get by me on posts like this. It discredits Nintendo and Sony. Both companies already discredit themselves on a regular basis. I can't stop them from doing that. However, what I can affect is blatant misinformation getting out through a forum of which I am a member, so I do my job and call foul when I see it.

Damage control happened. I averted it somewhat. It's depressing and nobody really buys it. Afterall, that's why most of us post in the first place. To let out opinions be known, and to correct those who would use information out of context to convince the mass horde that their opinion is the right one. That's call NewYorkTimes syndrome, lol.

 Let's be fair here... most of those games are multiplatformer who will probably be better on other consoles. Fragile is the only one that looks cool, And don't even get me started with 50 Cent game developer

Mario Kart selling almost as much as GTA IV on PS3 is nothing short of amazing. It's f$#%#ing Grand Theft Auto. It's the biggest game franchise around.
Mario Kart sold only 6 million last gen, GTA 20.

I'm actually not impressed at all with the hardware boost for PS3 and 360. The biggest game both consoles will see didn't even push hardware sales over 150k.
I honestly was expecting a million-month for both HD consoles.

 "GTA 20" is around 20% of Installbase of Total PS2

"Mario Kart sold only 6 million" (btw, it's  more like 7 million), is about 30% of GC installbase.

 Seems like quite the comparable stats. 

Depends on what you're after though, doesn't it?

I mean take Star Wars unleashed.

The PS3 and Xbox360 versions are going to look a lot nicer, graphically.

But the Wii version allows you to user the Wii-mote as a lightsabre (just about)

Both have their good and bad points, but just because one has better graphics, doesn't mean it will be better
