i wish people would stop looking at just north american sales when they try to explain things like supply.
a likely reason for north american wii shipments not being very big the week before is that Wii Fit was being released in Europe and supply may have been shifted to accomidate that release.
it's also likely that this shipment has been shifted from other regions to North America to accomidate the Mario Kart Wii launch.
we've seen it many times with other anticipated releases. why are people forgetting to look at it the same way now?
i'm not going to say Nintendo don't stockpile. i actually think they do, but not for specific games. i'd say it's more for the end of year holiday period. and it's probably not as bad as people think.
if Nintendo wanted an extra million units available for that period, they can put away 100k per month from Jan-Oct and have an extra million by the start of november. that's only ~25k units coming out of worldwide weekly supply. i don't see that as such a bad thing. and they wouldnt even have to do that amount if they rush January supply to the stores early.
