Given the large turnout of gamers at midnight launches around Australia last week, it comes as no surprise to see Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto IV at the number one and two spots in the overall Australian game charts, according to data trackers GfK Australia. Although a GfK Australia spokesperson declined to disclose specific sales numbers, he told GameSpot AU that the Xbox 360/PS3 split was similar to UK sales numbers. Last week, it was reported that 55 percent of all GTAIV sales in the UK were for the Xbox 360, with the remaining 45 percent being on the PlayStation 3.

Mario Kart Wii, the previous week's number one, has been knocked down to number three for the week of April 28-May 2. The Wii Play bundle has made a return, taking out fourth place. Despite not being tracked as a full-priced game for the last two weeks, Gran Turismo 5 Prologue has also returned to the chart, in the sixth spot. The two Brain Training games for the Nintendo DS have taken out seventh and eighth places, respectively, whereas Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games on the Wii is at number nine. Finishing up the week is Sight Training: Enjoy Exercising and Relaxing Your Eyes in 10th position.

In other charts news, God of War: Chains of Olympus continues to dominate the PSP chart, spending another week at the top of the platform-specific chart.

I thought 360 version had a chance at #1 in Sweden. It's done pretty well, but probably won't be #1 in any of the major Continental markets still to come (France, Italy, Spain).

According Datorspelsbranschen trend is the same in Sweden. One explanation is that the delivery of PS3 games to the Nordic market weighted over to the 360's advantage.  In total, a quarter of a million copies ordered to the Scandinavian market - minus Finland - but local distributor KE Media has, in turn, have received only 30 percent of its PS3 needs, and only 70 per cent of the 360 games they need.

- It will take a few weeks before we will be able to deliver everything, "said Jens Hvass at KE Media.

Link

According to the Swedish distributor KE Media, one could have sold 100 000 copies the first week if we only had a sufficient number of copies.

The game sold out practically everywhere
stinks, although the carefully planned publishing whim on the part of producers.

Link

Maybe we'll see 360 & PS3 swap places next week. Massive demand in Sweden for both versions, though, but it seems they only received half of what they ordered. Incidentally, Google Translate now has a load more languages added, including Swedish :)

Wii Fit actually outsold 360 GTA IV, first country both versions weren't #1 & #2. I guess it's not as easy to copy a balance board as it is to copy 360 GTA IV, though :)

BKK2: FishyJoe just posted this article about WiiFit selling 338k so far in the UK.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/1941532/Wii-fit-on-course-to-become-best-selling-exercise-trend-of-all-time.html

Combined with the 58% drop in WiiFit sales in the second week that puts WiiFit first week sales at 238k with a margin of error of about 2k. Maybe this info can be useful for your highest first week sales list you have for the UK.

With Chart-Track releasing a lot of data this week we can add a few sales numbers to some of the top ten, and refine some of the fastest selling games week one numbers. I also thought it would be a good idea to keep track of all the games we currently have first week sales, and which Chart-Track have continued to give weekly % change for.
