Forums - Gaming Discussion - Star Ocean 4 confirmed PS3 exclusive in latest OXM interview

Source? I see a lot of text pasted on an internet message board. I am gathering that this issue isn't out yet.

I've actually thought this would turn out exclusive for the ps3 the whole time. Sure it's not proof, but another source that makes me think so.

For people to think that the Sony doesn't have the relationship or ability to get exclusive RPG's from SE anymore, is just plain stupid. The install base is NOT an issue. SO4 is probably 2 years off....a lot of ps3's will be sold in the mean time. Probably another 30 million....install base isn't an issue.

This is more about where SE wants to take one of its most popular franchises. SO3 was on the Playstation so it makes sense to see SO4 on the ps3.

Well if this game does come exclusive to the ps3. i think it will by the way. many units are going to be sold and does star ocean only sell well in japan or across the globe because information like that would help alot, on us being able to determine what console the game will be on

Naz, you should know you can't fight opinions with facts.

The PS3 would be the best platform for these large rpg projects.

Not really. The PS3 is basically dead in the water in Japan, and it's being outsold at least 3:1 by the Wii each week. And that's not even mentioning the handhelds. The only platform that would be worse for a big JRPG project, at this point, would be the 360.

If I had to guess, I'd say it's coming to either Wii, PSP, or both. Maybe DS, but I doubt it.

Either way, I hope they fix the problems from SO3. The terrible voice acting, brain-dead party AI (which often left my party members running around in circles), and mana-death absolutely killed any enjoyment of that game for me.

"'Casual games' are something the 'Game Industry' invented to explain away the Wii success instead of actually listening or looking at what Nintendo did. There is no 'casual strategy' from Nintendo. 'Accessible strategy', yes, but ‘casual gamers’ is just the 'Game Industry''s polite way of saying what they feel: 'retarded gamers'."

Also the argument about install base later on is really iffy. You all know damn well that just puts off games. And isn't part of the criticism of the Wii about having to wait for major games? So why is it okay with another system?

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

Eh who knows.  Bracket's mean he didnt' actually say it and they just put it their to qualify his statement.  So the question is... do the editors know or are they guessing?

If true, I can't wait to see ClaudeLv250's response

It will be epic!

It was already declared an HD game, and the screenshots we have from that scan not too far back are very clearly from a PS3 or 360 game. If it had started development last year, sure, but it didn't, and the PS3 is where it will rest.
