After playing games for so long, it takes a lot to wow me. But that trailer absolutely floored me.

I need this game, yesterday.

I screamed when I saw this. I literally screamed like a little girl. My God, this trailer gave me life. I feel more alive after watching this. I'm not joking. This is SO FUCKING GOOD. I need this to be injected into my blood flow.

But let's talk about the flippin trailer

- Samus seems to talk quite a lot. And I'm totally ok with that.

- She gets impaled, she gets her suit destroyed AND she keeps kicking ass. Fucking savage.

- She kept her Metroid powers. I was afraid Nintendo would nerf those into oblivion.

- Samus will be able to walk ON water because of course she can, SHE IS THE SECOND COMING OF JESUS CHRIST.

- The Chozo are back and looks like Samus is a goddess to them BECAUSE SHE FUCKING IS.

- Visuals are amazing.

AHHHHHH, and to think there was a time when we didn't know if we would ever get a new 2D Metroid. What a time to be a fan!

Very nice. They really seem to have found their groove with 2D Metroid.

Given how completely underwhelming the rest of the direct was, this was the only thing worth watching for me. And as the massive Metroid fan I am, I was giddy like a schoolgirl. I hope I can get my hands on that special edition too.

 I wish Mercury Steam were not already owned as they would be huge get for Nintendo.

Probably not developed by Nintendo, which for me, is a no go. The last 2D Metroid I loved was Fusion.

Overall, what Nintendo is doing these days seems to be a far cry from their heyday. Like Disney, they use to be known for either wildly imaginative new IP, or revolutionary new ways to play older IP. Now, over the last few months, it's mostly Switch 2 versions of Switch 1 games, or remakes of thirty-year-old IP that I still own and can play whenever I want. And the few "new" games like Yoshi and Prime 4 disappoint. It's like Disney 2.0.

Happy for all you who are happy, though. Genuinely.

While that is very true, it's weird to put that in the Metroid Ravenous thread haha, since this is a brand new game I don't think anyone expected and a sequel to the awesome and highly regarded Metroid Dread. This is literally one of the first brand new exciting first party games on the system.

I totally thought they would find a way to remove her Metroid powers in a new game but I'm pleasantly surprised that they not only kept them in but they seem to play a big role in the gameplay.
