Forums - Sales - Predict the lifetime sales of the Ocarina of Time remake

What is your lifetime sales projection?

Under 5 million 2 4.17%

5-10 million 11 22.92%

10-15 million 22 45.83%

15- 20 million 7 14.58%

Over 20 million 6 12.50%

Total:48

10 to 15 seems like a safe bet. It isn't brand new and it isn't open world so it won't have the same appeal as the open world entries.

However, BotW and TotK have created tens of millions of new Zelda fans, many of whom may not have been ALIVE when the original OoT released. And statistically, the vast majority of them, alive or not, never played this. To them, this is a brand new, AAA Zelda experience. And on to that those who sid play it and are excited about the overhaul, there's a hugr audience to sell to.

But I don't think it hits 15 to 20. Partly because of the limiting factors mentioned, and partly because I suspect the legs will be cut by the next mainline Zelda, which should be - if this game is any idnication - a real show stopper.

But if it hits, say, 13.5 million, that would put it well ahead of the previous best selling traditional Zelda release Twilight Princess on the Wii+GameCube.

But I will say, there is a chance it could go higher. There's a mystique to OoT that, combined with the very impressive presentation and the magnitude of the hype surrounding the Zelda IP, could propel it past 15. But I still think it would fall short of the BotW and TotK numbers.

Around the Network

I dont see it blowing anyones socks off. Ill go like 6 or 7 million. I hope its more.

Total Championships: Nintendo - 4, Sony - 2, Atari - 1, Microsoft - 0, Sega - 0

Zelda is at the peak of its popularity right now + there is a movie coming + Ocarina of Time is THE legendary Zelda game

"Oh, but it's a remake"
So is Resident Evil 4!

This game is cracking 20M

I could very well see it selling 20+ over time seeing how digital games don’t get removed from shelves and will presumably keep selling over generations too. A new open world Zelda is also not a replacement for traditional Zelda.

Yeah I feel like a lot of folks online are underestimating this one.

The sales ceiling for a modern Nintendo game is much higher than it was in 1998, Zelda in particular is a much bigger brand, and Ocarina in particular is one of the most revered video games ever made.

No way this sells under 10m lifetime.
