PS5 Ships 95.3 Million Units as of June 2026

Sony Interactive Entertainment in its financial results announced it has shipped 95.3 million PlayStation 5 consoles as of June 30, 2026.

For reference, the PlayStation 4 had shipped 3.2 million units in the same quarter for a lifetime total of 100.2 million units shipped as of June  30, 2019. This puts the PS5 behind shipped PS4 units by 4.9 million units.

There were a total of 66.1 million games sold on the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 for the quarter. This is up 0.2 million (0.3%) from 65.9 million during the same period a year earlier. Digital sales accounted for 82 percent of software sales.

There were 6.0 million first-party games sold across the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4. This is down X.X million from 6.9 million a year ago.

There were 125 million monthly active users on the PlayStation Network, an increase of 2 million from 123 million a year ago.

Sony's Game & Network Services Segment for the quarter ending June 30, 2026, reported revenue increased 0.6 billion yen ($3.74 million) year-over-year to 937.1 billion yen ($5.84 billion), while operating income increased 54.1 billion yen ($0.34 billion) to 202.0 billion yen ($1.26 billion).

Its slowing down a lot compared to the ps4.

Numbers are a bit better than we expected, but down a lot compared to PS4. We are working to adjust up our estimates.

Edit: PS5 adjusted up from 92.96M to 93.31M. Shipment to our sell-through estimates gap is now at just under 2M. A bit smaller of a gap than the previous quarter.

82% of games sales were digital. Interesting. I think last quarter was 78%. At this rate I would expect it to be at 90%+ by January 2028.

Those numbers include

THOUSANDS of digital ONLY games.

Again there is a REASON sony doesnt  specify it and just say"all games that have both a physical and digital release 82% is digital"

Because in reality that % is prob around 30 or 40%

They literally do specify how it is calculated. For the last Financial Year supplemental information report page 12 footnote 11. They specify how it is calculated in every single financial release.

It is full games sales on PSN divided by total full game software sales. It does not include Ads-ons, DLC, F2P. It also doesn’t include pack-ins even if they are just digital codes. All the Sony pack-ins are effectively counted as physical sales. So, Sony could actually skew the number more if they desired.

Here’s some data on revenue(Jan-March quarter 2026), just to put the situation into true perspective for you:

Physical software - ¥17.7b

Digital Software - ¥244.4b

Add-on Content - ¥349b

PS Plus - ¥208.5b

Other Software(PC, and other ports) - ¥24.8b

Sony made more revenue from first party games on other platforms than they made from all physical software released on PS, including their revenue share from every single third party game.

Incorrect.  Sony has Listed all DLC, MTX and the like under the "Add on content" Category of their Game and Network Services segment for years.  You have been around for a while so I'm sure you already know that so I don't appreacte you trying to decieve me.  Like out of respect.

Actually i never saw that, i stand corrected HOWEVER.

Thousands of digital only games are still counted, heavily skewing those numbers.

If true then i gues i was wrong i suppose, then it seems most gamer do want to not own anything and buy digital only.

Verry sad indeed.
