SEGA Dreamcast. It means a lot to me for sentimental reasons where I was in my life. What it did for me in gaming. That aside. It was the first console that had arcade games look better than arcade games. (Soul Calibur) one of the best launch lineups ever. It did things I never saw before. Cloth physics. Fingers on characters. Full mouth animation and not a texture or a head bob. Shenmue. Giest Force and more just felt like the future of gaming was bright. It looked sleek and cool. VMU's were awesome. Shenmue ended up one of my fave games ever. Ikaruga my fave Shmup ever. Jet Set Radio style and OST. Power Stone! Skies of Arcadia is excellent. First console MMO. Everything about DC felt ahead of it's time even then. I could not believe this thing existed. It made me so hopeful about gamings future. For as short lived as it was officially. It has a really good library. The fact fans still make games for it shows how loved it it. Very few failed systems are as beloved as DC. It's still my fave era of 3D visuals. Sharp. Colorful. Clean. Rent a Hero No 1 or many Capcom games with amazing backgrounds mixing 2D with 3D very well. . Every time I play Dreamcast I become that kid again blown away by the games & graphics.
I have several Dreamcasts. One of them I have modded with GDEMU. Reshelled to be translucent blue. HDMI out mod. Blue LED. Use a Wireless Retro fighters pad and a VMU Pro from 8bitmods. My SEGA Dream Eye camera sits on top. Another idea ahead of it's time. Console Webcam with a video sharing service. Email and VOIP phone. Can even double as a regular digital camera on the go.
Bite my shiny metal cockpit!
