If not real, maybe it will put these ideas into people's heads at least. It worked here, not for data centers but for speed cameras. Toronto gave up on them as people kept tearing them down. Now they're banned in all Ontario.

We do have red light cameras, which could be better used to make traffic lights more efficient and prevent accidents before they happen. For now they make them less efficient as I'm not pulling into the intersection anymore for a left turn until the road is clear. I wait behind the line if I spot anything that looks like a camera. "Pulling halfway into the intersection allows you to wait past the crosswalk. When the traffic light turns yellow, you are permitted to safely complete your turn, and this maneuver ensures traffic keeps flowing behind you." However if the opposing traffic goes through yellow, you get snapped for turning on red...

As for Data centers, luckily none here nor any plans to build them locally. If any plans arise I'll be there to protest them.

Another big problem with either prohibition of ai or it being made illegal is that it’s the newest huge thing. Without being able to use AI, the United States could fall behind China. I want us to remain competitive and even dominant economically. An alternative would be a United States that prioritizes meaning to a greater degree, similar to the ways of Europe. But this would come at a cost of less growth and money in the system.

And investing in a technology that's ruining neighborhoods and causing mass lay offs is supposed to help the economy?

When you advance with any kind of technology, what usually happens is that lower income jobs are destroyed but higher paying ones are created. Secondly, if American companies don’t offer AI for the brainless public then the Chinese or some other nation will. The internet is rightfully so a chaotic and ungoverned place, so people will find it whenever needed. 

Im not saying that acceptance of AI is without any problems but prohibition not only wont work but will help our biggest competitors. We should be helping ourselves first. 

At the expense of farmers, animals, and everyone who needs drinking water? You sound almost as bad as AI bros who say "Don't get left behind!!" so that their investors will give more money.

Im a capitalist and a neo-liberal. So I want things like growth and prosperity. I’m kind of average wrt my politics other than being a die hard fan of the bill of rights. 

Also, please understand that data centers aren’t really causing an issue with the water or any one industry either. It’s really the level of civilization that is doing it. You’re missing the forest for the trees here. 

Oh and I suppose this data center from Amazon isn't using more electricity than a small country or guzzling all the water it can.

Practically every AI data center is doing those things. They're destroying the world around them. -_-

They're actually not, you've just bought into the mass hysteria that's currently being directed at them. Any negative environmental impacts from them are absolutely miniscule compared to the impact the meat industry is having so if you care this much about environmental harm it'd make a lot more sense to focus your efforts towards stuff like that instead.

It doesn't make taking drinking water, driving up electricity, driving up RAM and memory prices or taking farmland ok. Not to mention the mass layoffs.

Billionaires are the main reasons AI has become a bane of our existence.
