If they have an actual strategy for the future to make Xbox successful again this is a good move.

^ this.

If they are committed to trying to really sell big numbers of hardware units again (consoles), this could be a worthwhile price to pay for that.
That requires a semi affordable next gen console though.

The rumors of a 1200-1500$ next gen xbox, will make that hard to achieve.
Does anyone realistically see "project helix" selling like 80m units at such a price?

They really do need to go down the two console route again like they currently have. Except the lower end model needs to be more powerful relative to current hardware specs than the Series S. Ie. More like PS5 and PS5 Pro than Series X and Series S. So we get a ~$600 console and a $1,000+ console. Both will be hybrid console PCs.

  1. Project Helix = $600 and $1,000+ console PC hybrids
  2. Make all single-player games / traditional Xbox IPs timed console exclusive for 6+ months (Forza Horizon 6 caused a small boost in the UK)
  3. Bring back limited edition bundles / consoles with unique looks. Ie. An Xbox that comes with X game that also has artwork on it that is based on X game.
  4. Better and more consistent marketing

If true then lol ok.

It's a very difficult decision.

On one hand, Xbox needs exclusives to sell hardware. On the other, they need to maximize game sales.

Not making a Playstation version... how much will that cost in sales? A decrease of 10~30%, maybe 40%??
At the same time... another Gears for Xbox Series, how much hardware does that sell?

Imho, Xbox wants to send a message to fans about its exclusives and commitment. Whether this message is legitimate or a hoax, only time will tell.

Seems like the PS5 version was already rated in Europe, it has a PEGI rating.

It may be a Forza Horizon 6 so the game comes a bit later to PS5.

If they really just cancelled the PS5 version on the fly for the presentation, like Asha recently recently said another xbox exec saying showing other system logos on their presentation was a mistake... it really doesn't sound good.

Making this kinds of decision without thinking about it properly, or even making their position consistent by talking to each other, doesn't sound like good management in the slightest.

Good! Xbox is in need of more exclusives. Next pull PC and we’re really making progress.

I'll wait until this is actually confirmed, cos this is huge news if true, but not all leaks/rumours pan out.

Tonight's Xbox showcase will tell the tale.

Also random but I read “tonight” and was caught off guard for a sec. The Xbox showcase is actually the earliest event of SGF for where I’m from (12pm CST). I’m actually doing my morning cardio as I type, right before the event, so definitely not an evening event for me haha!

I think cross gen is going to be bigger next generation than this. Every game from Xbox will release on Xbox Series at least 4 years after Helix comes out and they will continue to sell the Series consoles as the "low" entry point. I think Sony will do the same with PS5 and PS6.

So next gen I think that's what will happen. Helix the high end console that has Xbox and other PC storefronts and the Series consoles are the low end Xbox. That's the best approach I think.

Its one of those things that dont feel like will be a thing soon
