Well I think it is official. switch 2 third parties support is really good. the best support since SNES

It's certainly looking that way; mainline Final Fantasy, Resident Evil, and Assassin's Creed are back for the first time in generations, plus the likes of Pragmata, Indiana Jones, Cyberpunk, etc.

Games today being more scalable, combined with the power gap being smaller than it has been in decades has really paid off for Switch 2.

Lengthy demo aswell, some AAA titles are shorter than this demo.

The hardware is just good too. Nintendo's designers said straight up they were not fully satisfied with the Switch 1's hardware performance but they basically had no choice but to use the stock Tegra X1. This is a custom designed Tegra, Nvidia has also come a long way from the days of the first Tegra X1 chip, their hardware and architecture is light years better. And they're doing this on 8nm too, which is bonkers engineering.

DF's coverage is out:

Switch 2 vs Series S is quite interesting; in the S's 30fps mode they have a lot in common; same textures and mostly the same settings.

Series S is a tigher 30fps lock, and has better hair rendering and full-rate animation at a distance (character animation is reduced at range on Switch 2, likely due to its slower CPU) but on the other hand Switch 2 has sharper image quality and some slightly better LODs.

The Series S performance mode though drops all the way down to just 648p-540p, resulting in extremely poor image quality, along with persistent stutter.

Really puts into perspective how demanding this game is, and makes the Switch 2's cuts make a lot of sense.

Switch 2 is a great handheld, buy one while it's still cheap. It's kinda nuts that it's more or less a portable Series S with a bright future and Nintendo games. Unlike PS5 and Series X, FSR2-3 doesn't really do much for Series S's image quality. So DLSS gives the Switch an enormous clarity advantage.

Both Rebirth ports are meh though. Popin is absolutely atrocious, and low fps does NOT suit this game. I was hoping for better framerate, higher image quality, and less cutbacks on Switch 2. But I'm still waiting for a proper comparison between PS5 preformance and Switch 2 docked. Keep in mind that even though PS5 performance mode ran between 1080-1440p, the final image quality was sub 900p. Yes, the output resolution was WORSE than the pixel count (the exact opposite effect of decent upscaling). It's that bad. It makes Capcom's recent efforts on PS5 (FSR1) look good.

Usually, games with trash output quality on older consoles allowed Switch 2 to easily beat the Series S version overall (Pragmata and RE9 were way better on Switch 2, although they needed a framerate cap). The difference this time is minimal.

All console versions barring PS5 Pro are crap. I guess there is still time to further optimize the Switch 2 version, if not by release then later through patches. The again, this is the same company that left the infamous FF7 Remake door untouched.

Agreed.  And this is what I meant a few years ago when I said the S2 versions wouldn't be the ps5 versions.  Cuts are required and credit to Square (and Ubi) for putting in the effort.  A straight up port would not go well; the hardware just can't do the exact game.  Cyber reduced the NPCs while Hitman reduced NPC background resolution, again because a straight port isn't going to run well.  I am glad to see third party understanding the need to custom ports.

I am glad Nintendo finally has a machine powerful enough to run current games even if sacrifices have to be made.  Developers needs all the sales they can get if we want the gaming industry to survive.
