Not necessarily, it can also be stuff like being able to more conveniently swap out/equip/use items for instance.

... which makes the game easier to beat lol.

How so? I mean, if reducing the monotony tied to taking on/off the boots in the water temple makes the game “easier,” for instance, then yeah sure make the game easier lol. I don’t care for such monotony.

As a Zelda fan, I have love/hate relationship with OoT - it was great to see Zelda in 3D with superb action controls and experience Zelda dungeons in Tomb Raider-esque style, but, from my POV, it was downgrade in structure compared to 2D Zelda.

So, while I would like to see them reimagine it more in line of what I was hopped it would be, 2D Zelda in 3D, they would potentially break its pacing and overall structure, and then it wouldn't be OoT anymore. So, I guess, just a good visual overhaul, sticking mostly to original structure and tweaking some gameplay elements is probably better way to do it.

I rather they change a lot but keep the feel. I want updated dungeon layouts, maybe even a few new items to spice it up. Some extra use of switching between the different time-periods would be fun. Not just the beans.
If they somehow can make me feel like I play Ocarina of Time for the first time again they have succeeded. Enough new things to avoid it being a Deja vu, but enough recognition to make it feel familiar.

Nope, done with remakes. Make new games.

Hmm, pie.

Manually pausing to change items or being limited in how many you can quickly access doesn't really make the game harder though, it's just a bit of a needless chore, nothing is lost by streamlining this. Improving the camera system would also be a QoL system along these lines.

I'd also contend that there is nothing inherently wrong with making something "easier to beat" in terms of making it just being more convenient and intuitive to play. This isn't 1998, a lot of lessons have been learned since then in how to makes games play more fluently.

Oh God yeah, and don't make me memorize the songs, put the notes on the screen.  I hated having to flip back and forth to play songs to frogs..

I still want a WWHD type thing for Ocarina.  Update the game with graphics and QoL.  I don't see the point in reimaging the game like BotW..  might as well make a new game at that point.

Nintendo already improved OoT with QoL and basic graphics uplift anyway for Zelda: OoT 3D, if they wanted to do that they could just port that to Switch 2 with 4K graphics like the Mario Galaxy 1 or 2 ports. That also would sell almost 0 systems.

They're likely aiming far higher for this than just that. This isn't going to be just for late 30s/40 year olds, it's likely meant as much for a new generation of kids who will be packing movie theaters next spring for a "realistic" Zelda movie. Well you kinda need a "realistic" Zelda game and a completely brand new game would take like 7-8+ years to make so that isn't viable.

Remake like RE2/3/4 or FF7 Remake is the correct way to go. You need a system seller for holiday 2026 that can carry through 2027, you need something for the 40th Zelda anniversary, you need something that ties in with the movie, but you don't like 8 years to make a new game. OoT Remake checks all the boxes.

I find your examples a paradox.  RE2 and RE4 did a fantastic job at retaining the original intent, design and levels.  While RE3 and FF7 completely altered the game, to the point it isn't even the same games anymore.

Ocarina as RE2 and RE4 make sense, agreed with those.  But (IMO), Ocarina going RE3 or FF7 is silly, might as well make a new game at that point.

Edit

RE3 Remake, still good game, is the biggest offender.  I played the crap out of the original and when I played the Remake I didn't relate back at all to the original.  So wildly different.

Depends on what Aonuma wants to do. It is likely going to have to appeal to movie audiences too, Nintendo is likely betting on the movie being a big hit, that's going to put expectation on the series elevating the story/dramatic element IMO.
