Forums - Nintendo - GTA6 potential day 1 launch on NS2

I would gladly take it on Switch without the ray tracing (they can bake lighting). Im sure they will work super hard to get it close to the Series-S version- which it may end up having higher image quality on Switch 2 due to DLSS. Get this to a stable 30, and it's a win for Switch 2.

Technically Switch 2 does support ray-tracing. But the appeal of getting GTAVI on the go, I really don’t think that one can be underestimated. I believe that if Rockstar does pump out an NS2 Edition (regardless of if even at launch), then the game has potential to find a very large market of consumers… well, that is until PS6 Portable releases. Though the NS2 Edition would def be the more affordable on-the-go alternative as I see no reality where a PS6 Portable with significantly beefier tech than NS2 will cost anywhere near $450USD.

I get that, but it's still not good PR. And I can't imagine anyone at any company being okay with it.

Having a very popular game available on your console is good PR.

There was no backlash or scandal to Witcher 3 or Doom 2016 having downgraded Switch 1 versions, the notion that a Switch 2 port of GTA6 would be some kind of "black eye" for Nintendo is ridiculous.

Whatever the case, I'm glad I also own a PS5. Because even if it did come out for S2 (it won't), it would be one of, if not the most gimped ports in gaming history, bar none. It would be like COD on Wii. Not worth trouble. Not worth the time. Papa Johns.

Not remotely; many games have been ported over much bigger power gaps than the one between PS5 and Switch 2.

No rational person would consider such a port a "black eye", and so long as it makes money, which it almost certainly would, then it is worth the time.

You're too biased to have a conversation about this sort of thing. I've tried before, and it just doesn't work. I'm a multi-platform gamer. In my view, consoles are hunks of plastic produced by companies that only care about my money. I'm grown up now. I have no allegiances to such things. I go where the best games are, and when it comes to GTA 6, there is zero... and I mean zero chance that a S2 port would out-tech the competition. Zero.

And as far as it making money, GTA 5 would have made money, as well. It didn't happen. Because specs.

Who said anything about the Switch 2 version "out-tech"ing the competition? It doesn't need to. Switch 1 didn't "out-tech" PS4 or Xbox One, but it got plenty of ports from them nonetheless, and the only people who thought worse of Nintendo because they had a less pretty version of Witcher 3 or Doom Eternal were a few console warriors that no normal person would take seriously.

People who own multiple consoles and buy whichever versions run the best are not always "warriors". That's just you dismissing an objectively true fact of gaming because you are cool with settling with whatever your platform gets.

But on the subject of S1 getting plenty of ports, do you know which port it didn't it?

GTA 5.

Which ran on PS3.

Looks a lot like BS tbh

GTA VI will be a live service It's not only porting the game, it's about supporting it for years and supporting live services is expensive. It creates a envinronment where you need dedicated teams to release content regularly between different platforms

That's the reason why Switch 1 never got GTA V despite being perfectly capable of running it

I actually didn't say that, what are you even responding to at this point?

Plenty of games more demanding than GTA5 hit Switch. Processing power isn't the only factor in what projects companies ultimately decide to go ahead with, and a port not happening isn't in any way proof that it wasn't possible; there was never a port of say the original 2003 Call of Duty to Switch, but I don't think anybody seriously thinks such a port would be impossible.

GTA 6 is not coming out on S2. You guys can keep the hope alive all you want. You can do rain dances, pray, pull out the ol' voodoo dolls and even pour out some rum for Jobu. It ain't happening. Ever.

If you want to play GTA 6, you're going to have to fork out for another system or wait for the PC port. Or just play Zelda and Mario and be happy.

I sent you a private message, by the way.

I'm pretty sure SW could handle GTA 5, as you said: it ran on PS3 and SW is way better
