Even the difference between 120 and 240 is notable. I recently got a new monitor and while I could quickly get used to 120 again there is a significant smoothness difference in stuff like fast paced fps games when jumping up to 240. It's not as big as the jump from 60 to 120 of course but it's bigger than I was expecting so diminishing returns isn't that much of a factor yet.

I haven't had the pleasure, my TV is 120 hz, but that wouldn't shock me.  A few years ago, I would have scoffed at the notion of 120 fps, given I was a 60 fps console gamer, but after playing 120 fps..  yeah, significant without doubt.

For refresh rate in general I am excited for that getting basically perfected within the next decade or so. The first 1000hz 1080p monitor is likely around the corner at this point and that'll trickle up to higher resolutions in the coming years. At that point it'll just come down to GPU and CPU power with high end displays holding nothing back.

As a reminder, this was going to launch last year, but got delayed a whole ass year after the explosive sales of the NS2...

The initial delay happened on May 2nd 2025 (before Switch 2 even launched) to May 2026 and then to November 2026. The delay has nothing to do with Switch 2 or its "explosive" sales that the first 2 months of its launch had before it started to slow down. Rockstar wouldn't be concerned about Nintendo given the install base size when the game launches. The PC would be their next move given its growth factor as of late.

To be clear, I didn't point that out as a bet that it's happening, but as a possibility, that the PS5 and XSX versions were already "in a good state" and the delay was for the NS2. But yeah, good point, I forgot that the whole year delay happened first. But I don't subscribe to the idea that 3rd parties aren't "concerned" with releasing on a new console with a small install base. If they can, they will.

Zero chance.  The development costs for GTA are exorbitant.  The game will gross a billion in 24 hours.  Zero chance Rock is delaying cash flow in the billions because Nintendo.

Especially when, the parent company, we are taking about a publicly traded company.

Zero chance GTA6 is in a good state and they are waiting on recouping their investment.

Well, with how much PS5 and Xbox cost right now, Rockstar better be looking into the cheapest entry to GTA6 that they can get.

Why?  Between the ps5, xbox and PC...  hundreds of millions of users.  And the S2 is going to get jacked in price as well.

And *if* that happens, it will still be the cheapest entry. What do you mean "why"? Everyone has been talking so big about how much GTA 6 will increase console sales, so a non insignificant amount of would be players was going to be people who don't have PS/Xbox/PC that can run it yet.

Not sure I follow.

Option A: launch on the ps5/xbox/PC make billions in 24 hours.

Option B: delay and don't make billions because reasons.

I don't understand why option B is a thing.  Unless your point is a S2 version makes sense?  Which I agree with.  I just don't think there will be a delay to make it happen.  Not when GTA has always had great legs.

No doubt, but it is about cash flow.  A publicly traded company has been spending money for development and will want inflow sooner than later.

The board are not going to be ok with delays for no good reason.

Switch 2

I have my doubts about this rumor. Moreso releasing the same day as the other versions.

GTA 6 is one of those games where Rockstar wants to perfect it the best they can and utilize the most graphical features they can. I highly doubt Rockstar would be potentially willing to potential hinder or scale back on their vision by trying to keep the Switch 2 version in mind. Especially on a platform that was never known for GTA and a company they've historically neglected releasing GTA games on.

Also, I would believe this rumor more if we saw a bit more Rockstar stuff on Switch up to this point. Rockstar definitely put more effort on Switch 1 then they did with any previous Nintendo console releasing stuff like LA Noire, Red Dead 1, and of course the GTA trilogy. But still no GTA 5 yet or even Red Dead 2 yet. I feel like if GTA 6 were coming, they would've at least released GTA 5 first on Switch to show full interest in the Switch, but they haven't. I feel like it'll be a really aggressive jump to not at all release GTA 5 on Switch after 9 years but go straight to dropping GTA 6 on the same day as other platforms.

And just from a logistics standpoint I find it difficult for Rockstar to be able to release on the same day as other platforms. Rockstar doesn't at all need the Switch 2 for GTA6 to be a breakout success, they wouldn't delay the game or try to adjust their schedule just for the Switch 2 version. This is why I doubt this rumor.

In terms of Switch 2 handling GTA 6. I dont think it'll be as hard as some people imagine actually. The RE9 port really impressed me looking nearly exactly the same as the other platforms. Yea RE9 is definitely way smaller scale but I feel like this gen especially is showing how scalable games are even putting on weaker hardware. The PS4 still holds impressively well to the PS5 and the Switch 2 is more capable than a PS4. So I think with optimization its possible, but logistically speaking I don't think Rockstar has shown enough signs to be willing to do it, let alone release it the same day.
