Forums - Sales - Nintendo: No Price Cuts This Year

:P As expected for the Wii ...

But come on Nintendo drop the price of the DS already -- its looong overdue for a $20 - $30 price cut ...

As far as Wii price drops go -- i feel that Nintendo may be forced to drop the price early next year -- if M$ has another large 360 price drop in Europe it could hurt Nintendo ( i mean what would you buy a Pro 360 + 3 or 4 budget games (like GeOW/ Halo 3/ etc) or a Wii ? ... )

Kinda good for me as I already own a wii... and am convincing myself every day why I shouldn't sell it. This should keep the price up.

If you don't want it, sell it. There are lots and lots of people who want it, who will pay you more than retail for your old Wii. Around here, people are selling them on Craigslist for $100 over retail.

When Nintendo announced the Wii and its price I was a little frustrated.  I thought it would not sell well enough at $250 and wanted it to be priced at $200.  Of course, Nintendo would have missed out on 500m in revenue in the US alone if they did that.

I think we'll have to wait to see for how long the MKWii/WiiFit/SSBB-effect lasts in Europe. A pricecut might not be needed for a long time. The EU numbers for this week will be insane, if my simple observations are anything to go by.

Nor Nintendo or Sony will ever have to worry about the Xbox in Europe no matter how dirt cheap the console may get.

they dont need to lower the price. They are selling like crazy, probably we will see a price cut next year.

It's scary that even after two and a half years, the DS is still flying off the shelves. Although if they're not going to cut the price on the DS Lite this year, does that mean they won't be unveiling a new DS model this year, or that it will be more expensive than the Lite?

Actually I bet they'd like to increase the price, but for obvious reasons they can't do that.

They could limit the supply to stores and then list them on ebay with a 50 dollar markup...wait a minute!!!!

 Winning posts.

There is no such thing as a console war. This is the first step to game design.

I am not sure. I don't think Nintendo can ship 28 million DS units unless it cuts the price in at least 1 region, bundles with software for no additional cost in at least 1 region, and introduces a new model in Japan.

Nintendo giving a price cut now would be a waste of money since the demand is still hot,
Good move for not setting price cuts

Good, this is good news, imo.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.
