Forums - Microsoft - I got a Xbox Series X too...

Tagged games:

After just getting a Xbox 360 a couple of days ago, I actually had gotten quite a few Xbox One games as well, and was looking into one but decided it would be better to just skip it and go straight for the Series X at some point, to cover mostly everything from the platform with both. Found a seller online and made a casual offer not expecting to be accepted, and it sure wasn't, but the guy was getting so many scam messages that decided to come quite close to my offer, so I ended up bitting the bullet, it shipped to me 2 days ago.

For now I have:

Minecraft

Halo 5

Gears of War Ultimate, 4 and 5

Forza Motorsport 5, 6 and 7

Forza Horizon 2, 3 and 5

Plus some other games like Watch Dogs 2, Fifa 18, Assassins Creed Syndicate, Farming Simulator 15, and some other stuff I got with other game deals and have no plans to play at all, at least for a medium term period.

Forza Horizon 5 looks great as expected, 7 too, but I really still don't click with how driving feels there, so I guess Horizon games will be my main focus for now for the exploring it provides.

The controller is a big step up to the 360 controllers I was experimenting with some days ago, still sad that they still used batteries tho, definitely behind both the Pro Controller and the Dualsense (or even the Dualshock 4 to be honest), but still feels like a good controller. It also have some great color options like Shock Blue and Velocity Green but this things are far too expensive, so maybe another time.

I actually really like how the Series X looks on my desk, looks like a mini fridge as expected, and looks very well constructed. Having all 3 (PS5, XSX and NS2) there right now was not really something I ever thought would happen until last year, even more while they all still are the companies current systems, to be honest.

But yeah, so there it is. I'll be getting Horizon 4 sometime too, dunno about Forza 8 as it's a rare sight around here.

Any notable BC game to look up that would be cool running on a Series X, btw?

I have been tempted to get a Series X for ages just cos it's now the only console from the big 3 I've never owned and I wanna "complete the set" haha

I had all XBOX consoles but i simply cany justify to spend 600e on console that have 0 exclusive games. All XBOX games are on PC Gamepass day 1, plus all these games will eventually come to PS5. Series X is most likely, most worthless console to ever exist.
You should went for Series S, that console have some value.

Series S doesn't have a disc drive, and with the 360 and Series X I can play basically all games from their 4 generations, that's the biggest reason I went for it instead of a One too.

I got an used one for less considerably less than I got my Switch 2 last year, too.

I definitely did not need one, but if I end with around 40 games from Xbox to Series 4 eras combined to play on those 2 systems, that's decent enough.

I understand and agree with your take, my PS5 makes it redundant with their games coming over, but it's fine, consoles are a one time purchase, and I got a lot of One games for decently cheap as well (some even for $1.5), and even as I would not choose it over the PS5, I didn't need to as I already have had one for years too.

I don't recomment people having both, but it's fine, buying another 2TB SSD to my PS5 (which already has one) would cost the same I paid for this Series X now, that came with 1TB, so why not divert a bit my collection?

I like how they all look together, but if you already have a PS5 think about it a bit more, specially if money is an issue.

Trying to convert to USD and the usual 10x we have for console prices here, I paid $270 for the XSX, used. For comparision I paid $360 for the PS5 in 2022 (horizon bundle), and $310 for the NS2 last year (standard version, paid $330 for it plus a NS1 themed headset), both brand new, tho.

I don't think it's a optimal choice, but I'm fine with having all 3 right in front of me now.

It's also quite heavier than I antecipated, lol, and it does look like it is very well built, think about the Gamecube for comparision.

If I recall right you love the Xbox 360 games, right? Might have some good upgrades by owning the Series too, like Sonic Generations, people say it's a big upgrade playing it on the Series.

Yeah financially it's not really a good investment, I may just wait and get one second hand down the line, it's purely just my "gotta catch em all" caveman brain talking.

Right now I can snag a preowned Series X for around $550 AUD ($389 USD) but I don't really need it technically as I can play pretty much all its games on PS5 now.

I do quite like the way it looks and I generally like Xbox's controllers a lot. I'm nearly done as far as the 360 games go, just a few games left to mop up, though there are several Xbone titles I wanna try. (I do have an Xbone to play those though)

What type of games do you like, then I can throw out some recommendations for BC titles

Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon

Aside from sport games, all kinds. I usually preffer RPGs or Adventure games tho.

I'm not sure about Blue Dragon, but yeah, Lost Odyssey is the game from all system that I want the most. It's quite rare and priced kinda high around here, so I'll be looking for a good opportunity.

Edit: just realised this was my post number 33333, lol.
