This sucks. They deserved better.

That sucks. I figured they were the ones doing the GOW Trilogy remake. Guess not...

All hell is gonna break loose if God of war trilogy doesnt deliver...

1. Buy a studio specialized in remakes/remasters.
2. Force them to develop a brand new live service game.
3. Cancel the project and delete them before they make a single game under you.

This is in the running for the most nauseating thing Playstation has ever done. Hermen Hulst the absolute clown needs to go. Fuck him and fuck Sony.

Edit: I'm hearing they weren't "forced" into live service. But even if this is true, they deserved a second chance. They should have stuck with what they were good at.

Makes me nervous for the likes of Bend Studio, Media Molecule, and, to a much lesser extent, Haven Studios.

Horrible news, Bluepoint were incredibly talented and did some of the best remakes/ports in the business.

Putting them onto a live service title was such a stupid move.

Playstation losing money with damn GASS and "cutting losses" by throwing good studios at the fire. Media Molecule/Housemarque are in real danger!!

I've been posting about it too, but if Media Molecule does not announce a promising game this year, they are next.

I'm so damn mad right now, Japan Studios closure memories are live again. Massive idiots.

The GAAS was cancelled, and I guess they couldn't get on the same page for a full new game. But surely there was a remake project they could have taken up lol. Bloodborne for example.

Shame.

How it wasn't decided to have Bluepoint go from the cancelled live service God of War game to heading development on the God of War remake trilogy will forever be one of the biggest fumbles!

Like, it was right there!

As I mentioned in the GOW Remake thread: the remake only exists to not waste the resources that went into the live service title (which is smart).

But I suppose now not seeing BP attached to it should've raised alarm bells. The only thing I can think is that BP themselves were pitching other ideas that were not being greenlit, and the remake was more a Sony idea that they've pushed onto SMS (or someone at SMS was smart enough to suggest this idea).

Disappointing news. More so because Sony has 1 less studio and 75 people are out of a job rather than out of any reverence for their work. I only ever played their remasters of GOW1, GOW2 and Ico, so I don't have much of an attachment to their work.

If Bend and MM can't come up with pitches to evolve into an actual game, then I can't help but feel that some of the blame goes to them as well. I actually hope MM can get through, and I want Haven to be able to have a successful launch so we can see what their other 2 greenlit games are.

Housemarque is fine. There's no real danger for them right now from what I can tell. They've pitched and used their resources more wisely than jumping into live service.
