Forums - Nintendo - Pragmata and Resident Evil Requiem @ 60FPS on Switch 2!

The thing is, you can have a big gap in actual power, but the perceptual difference can be less extreme than the numbers would suggest if you make careful cuts in the right places.

Obviously PS5 is several times stronger than Switch 2, but you can mitigate a lot of the difference via various tricks.

Agreed.  Not directed at you, but people don't factor panel quality when comparing hardware.

The ps5 has drastically better lighting than the S2.  The difference on a low end LCD is meh.  The difference on a high end OLED is massive.

Ps5 crushes the S2 in resolution.  On a 32 inch tv, who cares?  On a 75 inch tv, massive impact.

A 4090 can do 120 fps, on a 60 hz TV, little impact.  120 hz TV, massive impact.

Hardware needs panel quality to matter.

Yes, diminishing returns mean the perceived gap between SW2 and PS5 is a lot less than SW1 to PS4. Just as the perceived gap between PS5 and PS4 is less than PS4 and PS3.

Visuals aren't going to be the main obstacle for SW2 ports, it will be its weak CPU. But as it stands games like Pragmata and RE9 are evidently basic enough on the CPU side to run at 60fps even on its heavily underclocked mobile cpu and openworlds like outlaws are hitting 30 fine too right now.

I think the cyberpunk dlc is probably the only example we have so far of a game being unable to hit 30fps (which I'm pretty sure is cpu limited as the ROG Ally can).

Even the Phantom Liberty is okay most of the time. It can drop to the mid 20s in busy parts of the city or in some of the climactic firefights, but its no worse overall than was the norm for say demanding games on PS4.

Is it just me, or did it look like RERequiem was running at 30FPS during the Partner Presentation? Not sure why Nintendo wouldn't be more eager to show off the game running at 60FPS...

Resident Evil Requiem – Nintendo Direct: Partner Showcase 2.5.2026

This is in 60fps. Though it looks a bit rough in places and it's definitely dropping below it. If you look at 51 seconds that's definitely dropping below 60 lol. It looks visually quite rough too, a 40fps mode might do wonders here.

Also what on earth is this?

Either that's a 3d model with bad upscaling causing that white outline, or it's a 2d image that for some mindboggling reason was on a white background that someone at capcom has poorly tried to remove. Who okayed this to be in the trailer? xD

Lol I remember seeing that and being so baffled. Not sure what on earth happened here, but that sure is a low quality PNG of a plant (with unusually poor background transparency).

As for RERequiem, it's weird because it looks like all the cutscenes were 60FPS, but the gameplay was a bit inconsistent. Hmm... previews claim the game runs at a stable 60, but I'll keep an eye out on it.

Only reasonable way to get 60 fps is to significantly lower resolution and dlss is meh at lower resolutions.  Hence I would wholly expect the image quality to take a massive hit.

PS5 Vs Switch 2 demos compared for Pragmata.

Handheld is apparently pretty good because the VRR helps the FPS drops not be as jarring. Docked you obviously don't have that help because even if your TV supports VRR the Switch 2 Dock does not. It regularly drops below 60 and can drop into the 40's on docked. Doesn't seem there's a 30fps mode.

Visually holds up pretty well when docked, lighting takes a hit and it's missing some shadows but it's pretty good.
