The main change from the Switch 1 era when it comes to Switch 2 sales is the following:

Switch 1 always had NA, EU and Japan when it came to sales, while for Switch 2 as of yet, Japan has been a bigger market than Europe for Switch 2. I think that is mostly due to games like Pokemon Legends Z-A and Kirby Air Riders being much more popular in Japan than in Europe.

Could be game line-up, could also be price sensitivity. Japan has the special discounted switch 2. Some countries in Europe the higher price is a barrier.

Switch 2 really is the Mario Kart machine right now.

37% of all Switch 2 software sold is Mario Kart. Lol.

I think it only counts titles with a retail release? But that still means it sold over half what the other ~50 switch 2 games did combined.

The world would be a better place if a 100% of all software sold was Mario kart.

The world belongs to you-Pan America

Super Mario Odyssey finally reached 30M sales, probably the last Switch 1 game that will reach that impressive number, maybe Scarlet & Violet could leg its way to 30M though. Animal Crossing will 100 % reach the 50M+ sales milestone, and there is a chance that Smash Ultimate can leg its way to the 40M+ milestone as well.

Yeah digital only releases aren't counted, so no Fast Fusion, Fortnite, Drag x Drive, Welcome Tour, etc.

Last time I checked the standard Switch 2 was £237 in Japan when currency converted where as the UK has a suggested selling price of £396. That's something like a 60-70% increase. I can see the huge success of Japan and still very good success in sales in the USA but it really doesn't feel like a success over here. However this is nothing compared to what is to come surely when Nintendo has new manufacturing contracts with much higher pricing due to hyper inflation of RAM and NAND prices. Surely Nintendo will be forced to raise prices which will reduce demand in all markets. It's going to be grim sales figures for a lot of devices reliant on DDR5 and high speed storage chips. Even game cartridges could be more expensive to manufacture. I'm actually expecting to see a new Switch 1 model at some point, a cost reduced model to see out the Switch 1 to the end but also restore some interest in Switch 1 if Switch 2 starts struggling due to higher retail prices.

And guess how expensive PS6 will be on the current global trajectory, but i'm sure you still expect PS6 to sell huge numbers even though it will make previous consoles look incredibly cheap in comparison.

Switch 2 editions of Switch 1 games like BOTW, TOTK, etc also aren't counted as Switch 2 software apparently.

The physical versions are, the digital versions are counted as a purchase of the Switch 1 version...

Why? No clue, weird ass decision lol.

"Packaged versions of Nintendo Switch 2 Edition software are included in Nintendo Switch 2 software sales units, and downloadable versions are included in Nintendo Switch software sales units."

But does this just include old stuff like BOTW? Because Legends and MP4 are both called "Switch 2 Edition" so are the digital switch 2 sales of these games being counted as switch 1 sales... Nintendo why.
