If the general public weren't satisfied with the Wii, we'd expect to see a low software to hardware ratio and for sales drop off sharply after a year or so. However, Wii sales were at their strongest a couple of years into its lifecycle, and 9.07 retail games per console is not too far behind other contemporary systems (PS3 and X360 were 11.43 and 11.76 respectively, but had longer lifespans). Plus, there were plenty of casual-oriented games that sold well AFTER that two year window (Wii Sports Resort,Wii Fit Plus, Wii Party, and the Just Dance series).

Compare this to the Kinect. That peripheral also had a strong opening in 2010, and 10 million in about 4 months, making it one of the fastest selling pieces of gaming hardware ever at the time. Likewise, launch games like Kinect Adventures and Dance Central sold great.. However, sales of the Kinect and Kinect games seem to have mostly died down by late 2012.

9.07 includes a mandatory boxed version of Wii sports outside Japan, the true tie ratio is ~8.3

It's indeed significantly smaller (~28%) than the other two systems, and it's closer to flop systems like Wii U, Saturn and Dream Cast

Bundled games have always been counted towards both software sales and attach rate; millions of PS3s and 360s were also sold with bundled software.

Wii Sports was the primary reason many people bought the Wii in the first place, it was very much an intentional purchase.

I was in these very forums defending the Wii during its heyday. (There are some people in this thread who were there too!) The consensus was that the general public loved the Wii. You could bring one to anyone's house, and everyone would gather to play Wii Sports or some other party game like Just Dance. The Nintendo fans liked it because it was an upgrade from the drab GameCube days.

The more 'graphic' intensive gamers thought it would destroy gaming. This was a time when AAA games were released monthly, and the worry of 'diminishing returns' had not yet reached its full stride as it does today. (Wii Fit was considered the four horsemen of gaming's apocalypse.) These gamers predicted the Wii would die and never return. Eventually, they were right, after the generation was over.

In general, the Wii was believed by the general public, and the hardcore were against it. But its influence will be forever entranced. Nintendo's warning that better graphics would not make gaming more popular forever proved true. It's hard to argue that console gaming is more popular now than it was twenty years ago.

Also, angrypoolman would get banned every week because he trolled Ps3 and 360 in every post.

Do we have any data on how many bundled copies of the said systems in question were sold?

Not that I've seen, bundles were however commonplace throughout their lifespans, with everything from Halo to COD to Uncharted to Gran Turismo thrown in at various points throughout the generation, especially during holidays where a large portion of sales come from. Bundles have always been a thing in the console space.

I remember most the PS3's I sold in early to mid 2007 were Motorstorm bundles.

I'm skeptical of the data in general, but even so, I don't think tie ratio is an especially good measure for the general public.

It's possible, and from my anecdotal evidence true, that many Wii users viewed things differently than an XBox 360 or PS3 ownwer. They never intended to make gaming a part of their regular routine, they bought it to play something like Wii Sports now and then. It was similar to a board game closet in that it was something to with family/friends once in a while. So, I don't think it necessary follows that the amount of games is directly related to satisfaction. Some types of people may just have been satisfied with fewer games.

I infamously worked at gamestop between 2007-2009 (i say infamously because i got a lot of flack back then for some of my gamestop threads where i mentioned that i made attempts to persuade customers to buy nintendo products new and 360/ps3 stuff used so that nintendo would get credit for the sale and the community at the time did the forum equvalent of burning me at the stake) and i can confirm this.

I mentioned this in my switch 8th gen/9th gen thread, but this is just another common attempt to discredit what the wii achieved. This sort if stuff was rampant back in those days, im very used to seeing stuff like this and because of that,  its very easy for me to identify it for what it is. Perfect example, the wii was bundled with a game so it doesnt count as a sale even though many, many ps3 and 360 games were bundled with the system but all those count.

Other common examples back then were wii play being bundled with a controller so that doesnt count as a software sale, wii fit isnt really even a game, so that doesnt count, wii is a 6th gen console so it by definition cant win the 7th generation, only grandmas play the wii, its not even hd, nobody actually "cared" about the games so i guess the point there is that the system doesnt even matter therefore the sales dont matter, i could go on and on honestly. Ive heard it all. All it ever is at the end of the day are people trying to cope with the wii crushing sales in every category, thats all it ever was and thats all it is still to this day. Its obviously nowhere near as prevalent today as it was back in the 7th gen but yeah apparently its still a thing. Lol. Forums were fun back then.
