With the GS5 getting Gaylo later this year it is truly living up to its name now.

Alongside Queers of War. (Yep, actually heard this nonsense back in 2007)

First time hearing that one and that is actually really funny. Strange someone would use it in a serious mocking manner though since it actually sounds kinda badass.

Yeah I was gonna say in 2007 it was a childish insult but nowadays it almost sounds like a badge of honour.

Going from 700k first three days on PS4 to 23 k on switch 2.

Final Fantasy was a Game Key Card release, so we shouldn't be surprised it underperformed at retail. It probably has a very high digital ratio. There's no reason to buy a GKC instead of downloading a title, it's one of the most stupid ideas Nintendo has ever had.

Uh... GKC has every advantage physical has over digital except that it requires a download.

It can be sold, rented, borrowed/lent. It's not tied to your account so you still own something of actual value.

There are definitely reasons to get GKC over digital lol. A GKC is basically just the same as a physical game with a mandatory day one patch.

I would much rather get the game key card than digital.

I think it's kinda apt to compare FF7R Switch2 physical release to the Nier Automata physical release on Switch in Japan in its first week.

1) Both Square Enix
2) Both launched with a discounted $40 price or regional equivalent
3) Both came out years after the initial launch on PlayStation consoles.

Nier sold 30,218 copies during its debut week in October 2022. Obviously Switch had larger install base at the time. But still interesting comparison.

We've seen a few Switch 2 key card games outsell the PS5 versions in Japan. Most just don't care. This is FF7 Remake's 4th release after it's PS4, PS5, and PC versions. Also, Japan is known to have low sales for re-released games.

Even in the UK we saw Octopath Traveler 0 has higher sales on Switch 2 vs the other platforms despite being a key card with a much lower install base. I know you and other like to believe key cards don't sell well, but we have sales numbers to prove otherwise.

THIS! + The game is bigger than the biggest NS2 card can hold. No idea why some people on this board hate GKC so vehemently.

Also, if we are going to be fair, it would make a lot more sense to compare this release vs the PS5 release of FF7RI

If the internet were as fast in 1996 as it is today, we would have had Final Fantasy VII Key Card on the N64.
