Forums - Nintendo - Finally gave BotW a chance and I'm loving it!

Yes it's such an incredible game. I did the same 5+ hours in BotW back in 2017 when I first got the Switch, not because I thought it was boring or anything I just I guess wasn't ready to launch into such a huge game. A few years later I started over with a new save vile and played 50 hours in a week haha. Such an insanely good game. I've never played another game like it.

Can't imagine what it'd be like to have your first experience with Breath of the Wild at 60fps and Idk-what-resolution-p.

It blew my mind when I played it at 720p and an unstable 30fps on the Wii U. Still can't believe how long ago that really was.

The best part is you just do what you like and skip the parts you don't, because 99% is optional. Great replay ability in tackling this adventure, trying different ways to play the game.

Glad you're enjoying it!

It's one of my top games of all time; played it in Wii U at launch and the sheer freedom and interactivity was breathtaking (heh) and felt like how I imagined games would be in the future when I was a kid. Made the world feel so alive.

1440p.  and 30 fps (unstable) to 60 fps (stable) is a massive upgrade, plus way better load times.  I enjoyed the original as well, but the S2 version is a massive upgrade.

1440P docked/1080P mobile.
But it's got a variable resolution and in mobile mode can drop to 648P.

Game on Switch 2 has:
* Vastly better shadows.
* 60fps.
* Improved textures.
* Improved Ambient Occlusion, so caves/darker areas have better contrast areas.

Game still runs FSR1 which is terrible, would have been nice if Nintendo supported DLSS for that extra resolution and clarity.

It's a good upgrade, but should have been free... But it *is* the definitive way to play the games unless you emulate on PC.

Considering I played the game on WiiU at 480P in Handheld mode... Op is getting a vastly better experience.

This game is an 11 out of 10 (...in the first eight or so hours).

What was it that you liked so much about the first 8 hours? The first 5 or so hours were the struggle for me, but once I got past that, everything else has been bliss!

Well, part of it is exactly that. The survival aspect and discovering the world with the climb/paraglide mobility and exploring Link's skills, mostly.

After that the initial magic was kind of gone to me (you start feeling like hoarding equipment, clearing half of the shrines will already make you way overpowered at the end of the game, the fringe map areas are clearly not as well designed as the core, etc.).

BotW topped my favorite Zelda for the longest of years.

Played it on launch date on WiiU and instantly became a favorite.

Aside from framerate issues I noticed, it was perfect.

I'm planning to play BotW again on my Switch 2 especially with the Switch 2 update through NSO - will be my first time playing the DLC too.

My top 10 favorite Zeldas btw based on what I played/beaten...

1. Breath of the Wild (WiiU)
2. Twilight Princess (GCN)
3. Ocarina of Time (N64, 3DS)
4. Link to the Past (SNES, GBA)
5. Majora's Mask (3DS)
6. Link's Awakening (GBC, 3DS)
7. Skyward Sword (Wii)
8. Link Between Worlds (3DS)
9. Oracle of Ages (GB)
10. Tri Force Heroes (3DS)

I need to play more of the games in the series....Minish Cap, Wind Waker and Oracle games.
