Looking at the old credits of Metroid Prime, much of the team that made the original trilogy is no longer at Retro. In contrast, a fair amount of the talent behind Tropical Freeze is still working there. So I feel that of the two series they're veterans of, DKC would make more sense.

For the record, I cross-referenced the staff credits and as of Prime 4, there are 23 people on the team who worked on previous Prime games.

if not, metroid prime 5. They got their hands warm with metroid prime 4 and proved that they can do a metroid prime game even without the old team. They need to use the experience they got from the developing that game and make a fifth game. Keep up the momentum.

Maybe such a shooter could be Nintendo's successor to Perfect Dark. The opportunity is knocking now that Microshaft has effectively killed Perfect Dark.

Hopefully they have earned the right to work on whatever they want to. Be that a new ip, or a new Metroid, Donkey Kong, or whatever they like.

^Thus, especially if it's a new Donkey Kong with King K Rool.

I think they earned that a while ago as IIRC both their Donkey Kong games and Prime 4 were things they volunteered for rather than being ordered to do.
