What should they make next?

Metroid Prime 5 definitely.

Let them make a prime game without having to salvage parts of what already funadamentally doesn't work.

Metroid Dread switch 2 edition at 4k/120fps.

That would be a waste of a talented developer. Anyone could make an upgrade of an old game.

Also, I think 4k/120fps for Dread is not reasonable on Switch 2. Switch 1 version is 900p/60fps with some elements running at 30fps (elevator sparks, some lava animations...). Seeing how other Switch 2 editions or Switch 2 upgrades run, it would be either 1080/1440p and 120fps or just straight 4K/60fps.

Switch 2 editions often have about a x4 increase in pixel throughput, so like Prime 4 Dread could go from 900p/60fps to 1440p/60fps or 1080p/120fps probably.

Honestly, I don't want another Prime or 3D Metroid.
I prefer the 2D Metroids, which also seem to sell better anyway.

We have also had in the last decade:
* Metroid Samus Returns. - Amazing.
* Metroid Dread. - Amazing.
* Metroid Prime Remastered. - Extremely solid remaster.
* Metroid Prime 4. - Good, but not Great.

We haven't had a good Lylat Wars since the N64, almost 30 years ago.

Metroid Prime 5 would be nice, but I wanna see if they can do something new. Even if it's part of a pre-existing Nintendo IP like how they revitalized Metroid and Donkey Kong Country.

I'd love to see them take on something new personally, but I also wouldn't be opposed to either Prime 5 where they can create their own vision from scratch, or a new Donkey Kong Country, as while Bananza is fantastic, it'd be awesome to see the 2D series continue as well, especially as Tropical Freeze was for my money one of the best sidescrollers ever made.

Hopefully a third Retro DKC would have K. Rool as the antagonist. He was sorely missing until Bananza.

Eh, Tropical Freeze was better off without him. Fredrik and his gang of penguins were cool. We don't need the same villain every time.

Agreed, I liked that Retro tried something different with their take on DKC instead of just retreading the path Rare forged back in the day.

Star Fox.

New Donkey Kong game would be fun, but I'd be down for something new.
