It seems like every month, a large amount of the older data is being altered.

As more data comes in we do make more adjustments. Main thing is Nintendo's quarterly earnings report in which we get shipment totals broken down into Americas, Europe, Japan, and rest of world. But there are also times we get more data for individual countries, so we then adjust our estimates to match.
